Pretty good car, nothing special but totally competent transportation

This is one of the cars in the world. It is very spacious on the inside, as it has the same wheelbase as the larger 3-row Pallisade. The back seat is huge. Very quick off the line, but gets a bit gutless beyond about 55mph, so passing isn't as effortless as I was hoping from an EV. The seats are pretty comfortable, but I've only done about 30 minutes in them, so I can't speak to the longer term comfort. It is very well featured, especially mine which is a mid-level SEL trim. However, at the sticker price of almost $57k, the interior quality isn't anywhere near what you would expect from a luxury brand in the same price range. The 'vegan' materials tend to feel a bit cheap and give off a pretty unpleasant odor not at all reminiscent of the expected "new car" smell. It handles okay, but you feel the weight and the smooshyness of the suspension if you push it even a little hard around a corner. For the kind of driving I do, which is 50/50 city and highway most of the time, I get great efficiency, averaging 3.7 miles per kilowatt hour. I believe this 2025 model has an 84 kW-h battery, meaning I can clear well over 300 miles between charges. Charges fast as well. Overall a perfectly competent machine to move you from one place to another with no fuss.

I Love My Car

Best vehicle so far! I love the technology and safety features of the Ioniq 5. It’s my first EV and I’m thoroughly impressed. Smooth drive, it’s quiet, and the sunroof is huge. Very comfortable, fun to drive, and outstanding overall. Can’t recommend it enough! Thanks for an amazing car, Hyundai!

Two months in: Best vehicle we've owned

There is so much to love about this car. It's very roomy and comfortable. It drives great on short and long trips. Great tech and more power than we'll ever need. And then there's the fact that it produces zero emissions, it's incredibly efficient, and we can charge it in our garage while we sleep. Concerns and annoyances are pretty minor: the distraction sensor is overly sensitive and goes off if I'm looking too high or too low, or smiling or laughing. I also wish it would stay in iPedal mode without having to reset it after I turn off the car or put it in park. Speaking of one-pedal driving, it's the best thing ever! While all of the features take some getting used to, I appreciate the adaptive cruise control and safety alerts.

Good car, clunky user interface

Had the car for 5 months. Good range, good charging, ok amount of space. The trunk could be larger. Nice finishes. Climate control works well. My biggest complaint is the user interface. Profiles are not tagged to keys so every time the driver changes, the profile needs to be changed manually. The audio interface does not prominently display current artist and song on Sirius XM. And there are no pre-set buttons you can arrange your favorites in.

Many features, but complicated to figure out how to use all of them.

I am a pretty tech savvy person, but the learning to curve for operating this vehicle is much to steep. I don't want to invest so much time in learning how to operate my car. I would like to be able to just get in my car and go.

This car is more than I could have hoped for.

The car nearly drives itself, very quiet and smooth. My last car was uncomfortable to drive long distances, so much so that I had to get a booster seat, not with this car, very comfy. Love the wifi in the car, stereo is great, and plenty of plug-ins for devices.

4-month review

At least for me, it's taken a little bit of getting used to an EV, and this is the first Hyundai I've had after 31 years of owning Honda products. If Honda/Acura had an equivalent EV, I would have bought it, but they don't at this time. That being said, there are some things that I think are pretty smart in execution, and others that leave me scratching my head, wondering what they were thinking.

Back at the dealer twice within 5months of ownership

12V battery keeps dying. The dealership replaced the first one. Battery continues to die. Now they've had it for multiple weeks and still are unable to figure out what is wrong with it. When the car drives, it's fantastic. But I prefer a functioning care to one that is chronically getting serviced.

Great Small SUV

I am almost 6’2” and fit just fine. I am appreciate handling and safety features on the Ionic 5 SEL. My only negative is not related to vehicle - my lease included charging credit with Charge Point - the chargers seem to have slowest charging rate and not properly maintained (screens facing sun are often UV damaged).

Biggest complaint is charging. 1- Charge port does not accept Tesla charger. 2 - when charing at home with charge Point charger, it takes several attempts before car connects with charger. 3 - Difficult to remove Charge Point adapter from charging port.

Small design flaws that matter

Poor design of rear window with too small wiper and impossible to keep clean upper hidden underneath the overhang. Overall I love the car! The air vents in the front need improvement as they can’t be pointed all the way left or right because that closes a vent. Very impractical.
