So far so good

I enjoy driving it every day. It's my first electric car so I'm still getting used to it, but so far have had no issues other than learning all of its functions. The biggest issue has been that the automatic door lock/unlock doesn't always work. I also wish the car had seat position presets for 2 drivers. Its great that I can drive it without my key if need be; the app on my phone works well so far.

My 2025 Hyundia Ionic

Good EV so far with lots of room for driver & passengers. Infotainment and instrument cluster need a revamp. Heavy glare and hard to see in the california sun.

2026 AWD Calligraphy Ioniq 9 is driving a cloud. Steering wheel squeek

This level of trim (Calligraphy) sold me on Ioniq. I had watched the 5 for years but took the plunge with the Ioniq 9 and the native NACS charging port. Loved it so much that within 60 days I went out and got a Limited Ioniq 5. HUD is a minimum required feature for me. Coming from a BMW 7-series, I am very satisfied with the Ioniq 9 experience. Factory issue with Steering Column; makes a rubbing sound on deeper turns. Bothersome in such a quiet car. Presented on multiple vehicles so this is a larger build quality problem. Repars at dealer lead to other problems with wiring and inverters in column. Still unresolved after 7 weeks in the shop. Driver assist needs to improve. Navigation interface is limited, especially when looking for alternaves. BMW does better there.

Fun to drive

New to EV Owner

I wanted to try EV's and Hyundai had a 2 year lease special that was good. All in all I like this vehicle decent performance and excellent cockpit and display. Only issue is the wind noise. For a vehicle without a sunroof it makes a lot of noise above 40mph.

This is my second Ioniq 5. My first was a 2022. Most of the niggles I had in the 2022 have either been resolved (rear wiper, charging pad, buttons for seat heater, heated steering wheel and ventilation) or improved (the audio system).

Best first EV

It has all the bells and whistles, looks good, it’s quiet, Apple CarPlay connects instantly, I can do 50 miles a day for a week and still have enough of a charge to run errands on Saturday. My only complaint is that I wish the steering column telescoped out a bit more. I’m 6’1” and that would make adjusting my seating position much easier. Also, it’s hard to see the A/C options when it’s sunny and there’s a glare

IONIQ 5 HEV

The IONIQ 5 is a much better vehicle than my initial expectations. I was skeptical at first about leasing an SUV even after the first test drive. However, when I went to Jerry V's dealership in Kailua, I saw several electric vehicles and made a decision to lease the IONIQ 5. Between the IONIQ 5 & 6 the IONIQ 5 had more headroom for me, as well as most of the features that come standard with this vehicle line. Another feature that makes the IONIQ 5 a choice is the quality and smoothness of the ride. Several individuals who have ridden with me have commented on the quality of the ride. That feature was the one of the deciding factors in making the leasing process a plus. The Blue Link that comes with every Hyundai is also a plu0s and really adds to the convenience of owning a Hyundai. My only disappointment was that the IONIQ 5 limited was not available at the time, and I really wanted those additional features. Hyundai was one of the few dealerships in Hawai'i that had a range of electric vehicles to choose from.
