Solid vehicle so far, but with some annoyances

In my first three months of ownership, my Ioniq 5 has worked reliably and given me no problems. It's been reasonably quiet (although there is an annoying motor whine below about 25 mph), the handling is good, the ride is good, the cargo capacity is good, the range is good, the DC fast charging speed is excellent, and the wireless Android Auto is good. The overall utility of the vehicle is good for me, although of course that depends on a particular person's needs. My previous car was a Tesla Model 3, and the Ioniq 5's software suffers BADLY by comparison to that vehicle. The Ioniq 5's user interface is awkward and confusing, it's missing features (like the car's refusal to remember that I prefer iPedal Max driving mode), and the built-in mapping system is pretty bad. The last of these is so important for EV road trips that it deserves elaboration. First, the display and user interface deviates significantly from what other mapping tools (Google Maps, Waze, etc.) use, which is a user interface nightmare. The plotting of EV charging stops is awkward and requires too much user intervention (confirmations that charging stops should be planned, for instance). The display of charging stops with the first one at the BOTTOM of the list is completely unintuitive, at least to a US user. (Maybe that's a cultural thing and bottom-first makes more sense to Koreans; but if so, it should be a configurable option or the default should be changed for different markets.) Although the estimated state of charge at the destination or way-point can be found, doing so requires button presses; this information is important enough on road trips that it should be displayed on the main screen, along with the arrival time. Hyundai recently provided an update that supposedly adds Plug & Charge support; but the setup instructions refer to options in the MyHyundai app that don't exist. Online user forums are filled with speculation that an update to the MyHyundai app is required, but nobody really knows anything. Better communication from Hyundai about this sort of thing is imperative. As I adjusted from my Model 3, I both appreciated the presence of buttons and other physical controls and detested them, depending on the feature. People tend to focus on Tesla's placing traditional button functions onto its tablet-style screen, but that's only part of it; things that other cars (like the Ioniq 5) require manual adjustments for are handled automatically in a Tesla. For instance, Teslas lack an on/off button; wipers are automatic (although Tesla's implementation is poor); headlights are automatic; there's an option to automatically cancel turn signals once a manual lane change is complete; and so on. Although my Ioniq 5 SEL has some of these features, it lacks others and requires more manual intervention on too many little things. Also, I've come to believe that settings that need adjustment while the car is in motion are better handled with physical buttons, whereas those that are never adjusted while the car is moving can be shifted to a screen for cost-cutting. By this measure, moving the heated seat controls to physical buttons for the 2025 model year is a big improvement; but the physical buttons to open the rear hatch and the charge-port door could as easily (and more inexpensively) be removed and those functions done via the screen. I was one of the first people to buy the 2025 Ioniq 5, and so much of my research was based on seeing the 2024 model in person and seeing online reviews and the online Hyundai configurator. I was therefore surprised and disappointed to discover that the color of the seats for the 2025 Ioniq 5 SEL with gray interior did NOT match what's shown in the online configurator; the latter shows very light gray (almost white) seats, whereas what I received has much darker gray (not quite black) seats. Apparently, the Limited trim gets the light-gray seats, but the SEL gets dark-gray seats, similar to the SE's (cloth) seats. To this day, your online configurator is WRONG. Although I'm not upset enough to refuse delivery or sue, I STRONGLY recommend that you fix this ASAP. I've discussed this discrepancy with others in online forums, and some people seem to be more upset (or at least potentially upset) than I am about this. Although I'm not affected by it directly, I've seen reports online that the 2025 Ioniq 5 is incompatible with the Tesla Mobile Connector, and possibly some versions of the Tesla Wall Connector. As a NACS-based vehicle, this is a significant problem. I hope you'll be able to fix it via a software update. I'd hate to arrive at a hotel with a Wall Connector and be unable to charge with it. I've focused mostly on negatives in the above, but to be clear, I am mostly satisfied with the car. It's getting me around nicely and I hope to keep it for several years. The 2025 model year has a large number of small improvements over previous years, and I appreciate those. I hope you'll put more effort into the car's software, though; rearranging some menus, adding some options, and improving the in-dash navigation could greatly improve this car.

An excellent EV experience

This car delivers - great range; great oomph; and so much room inside. It rides great and has top-notch driver assist and safety features. The excellent regenerative breaking system provides a lot of recharge during city driving, which is a huge boost to the efficiency.

Best EV on the road

Our second ioniq 5. The 2022 was nice but the 2025 surpasses it. Range is better, can now charge at any charger in the country and was made in Savannah Georgia. Interior very comfortable, good combination of touch screen and physical buttons beautiful sunroof and great safety features adaptive cruise and heads up display. We love it

I loved my 22 Ioniq 5. I really love my new 25 Ioniq 5.

The upgrade from my 22 Ioniq 5 to the 2025 model was worth it. Better range. Increased charging flexibility with the NACS charging port. A rear window wiper!

Responsive excellent ride. Concerned about being left stranded.

This is not my first electric car. I have a 10 year old Nissan Leaf that has been extremely reliable. This car handles well, is very comfortable and quiet. I feel safe in this car as long as it is running. I worry that Hyundai h a s ignored the electrical problems with the 12 volt battery and ICCU. I worry about my wife getting stranded on the highway and about breaking down in the middle of a long trip. Will the car have to be towed to a dealer and wait several months for the ICCU to be replaced? Hyundai is irresponsible for not developing a better ICCU and not having adequate inventory for its dealers. I'm still waiting on a defective part to be repaired 3 months after I purchased it brand new.

Pleasing, Spacious, and Refined with few flaws

We leased a 2025 Ioniq 5 RWD Limited, Lucid Blue, for three years. So far, after 3 months, there have been no real issues with the car. it is a pleasure to drive. Though it is not the AWD model, it has plenty of zip as far as we are concerned. When fully charged, the display says we have over 340 miles of range -- though I don't think we actually get that. We keep the car in "Econo" all the time, no problem. The paddles and usage of regenerative braking takes some getting used to, but it now seems second nature. We usually put the system in "auto" for freeway driving, which allows coasting with your foot off the accelerator if the road is open. For city driving we oten use the "iPeddle" dingle pedal driving mode. There are, what we believe some things that could use improvement. For example, the buttons for climate, media, some other controls require the drive to glance down and reach. Getting to the point where you can easily choose preset radio favorites requires more effort than one might like. The "home screen" is "customizable" but in actuality, you have to press one or sometimes more buttons to get to that screen after you turn the car on. The storage area under the sliding console is nice, but not too easy to get to without fiddling with the item you wish to place there. Note, we opted for the "free" ChargePoint charger when we got the car, but in truth it's not really free because you must use the Hyundai approved middleman to arrange for installation - which ended up costing us $1100, even though we already had a 240 volt outlet in our garage.

2025 Ioniq 5 SEL - fantastic car!

Overall, I'm very pleased with my 2025 Ioniq 5 SEL. The exterior styling is fun and the interior styling is sophisticated with a bit of fun. The car handles really well (except for the turning radius) and has lots of power. It's smooth to drive and rides well.

Very good

I love my new Hyundai! Especially the updated safety features (comparing to my old 2026 Prius) my only concern is that there's an unexpected blind spot (where there's no camera) where I can't see drivers coming from my right side as I'm trying to make a left turn into traffic. I have trouble seeing due to blockage from the area where the front of the passenger's window and the right side of the windshield meets. I have to be very careful because of that. IT also seems to get dirtier faster than my old car with plant material/leaves becoming lodged easily at the recess at the bottom of the front windshield and the recess at the rear windshield. Maybe they can design future vehicles with a more sleek design (without all the external pockets and recesses) Otherwise it's a dream car.

This is the car of the future. The best EV you can buy, period.

I test-drove the Ioniq 5 at my local dealer, which just arrived from HMG Meta Plant in GA, and I was sold. This is an awesome car. The Ioniq 5 was the first EV I've actually lusted after, and the car is just phenomenal. Cyber Gray color with the black cladding trims makes this car look as if it just came out of the future!! Love everything about this car.

Long range, spacious comfortable cab, effective safety aids.

I use the vehicle for several purposes – family travel, local errands, transporting construction tools, and equipment. Vehicle size and design with a hatchback and folding down rear seats work very well for all of these functions. I also like the ease of use of the controls and the display on the dashboard.

A near-perfect expression of the modern automobile

Quite frankly, this is the best car I've ever owned– a really exciting balance of comfort, technology, and performance. Build quality is exceptional, charging speed is fast, and the latest technology is very thoughtfully integrated into the platform.
