Good car, poor buying experience

First EV, driven for 3 months. Pleasant driving experience, but too many gadgets and add-ons meant to add subscription costs. Dealers are universally awful and will not honor HMF incentives without excessive effort and haggling. Touch controls are difficult to use while driving and voice controls are not a good replacement. I do not want Sirius or Verizon, and cancelling the trial garbage is a chore. The entertainment system should focus on mirroring my phone with AndroidAuto or CarPlay. HyundaiPay has limited availability but the charging experience is fine these days. Highway cruise control is excellent, lane keeping is good and relieves driving fatigue.

I couldn't be happier

I absolutely love my Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL! The ride is smooth, the tech features are easy to use, and charging has been surprisingly simple even as a first-time EV leaser. Stylish, smart, and fun to drive. I couldn’t be happier!

Ioniq 5 SEL RWD

Great EV. Feels more luxury than most Hyundai vehicles i have driven. Does EV stuff better than most EVs (charge speed, V2L, range, etc.)

I feel like the Ioniq5 was a good choice for my first EV. I particularly like the ability to set the level of regenerative braking, not just all or none.

Could be better

Constant issues with auto trunk. Have to manually open and shut it all the time. Range is not much better than last year models. The lumbar support is terrible, never stays, and isn’t great in general.

Great car with lots of features

Sold my Fisker Ocean after a year and got an Ioniq 5 Limited, 2025 - can't be happier with all the features and the comfort. AWD models were so rare (at least when i was looking into it - April 2025) I couldn't get one in the timeframe I have and ended up getting the RWD but definitely miss the extra power.

Reliable, comfortable, but the safety feature is a safety hazard.

I enjoy the car and the interior features. My biggest complaint is the Driver Attention warning. It is constantly giving me alerts that I'm not looking at the road when I most definitely am. This is not a sunglasses issue, as I do most of my driving at night. I find myself moving my head and looking up, down, left, and right to get the Warning to turn off. In other words, it forces me to take my eyes off the road. This so-called safety feature is actually a safety hazard!

Terrible handling & interior, lots of cutting corners

Ugly interior, seriously terrible handling, auto cruise is unusable, bad stitching on the synthetic leather headrests, door trims rattling with loud music, overly sensitive/laggy safety sensors, accelerator makes the car lunge harshly from every stop, paint defects from factory, etc. I'm very disappointed in the car.

Overall it’s a great vehicle and I don’t regret buying it. There are some really nice things about it and some things that are annoying come from other vehicles, but overall it’s good

Great car with some reliability issues.

The driving experience with my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the best I've ever had. The ride is smooth, responsive, and very quiet. The cabin feels spacious and comfortable, and all the controls are easily accessible. The range and charging speed are adequate for my needs. The visibility and safety features in my Limited trim make me feel confident changing lanes and parking. I like the styling and lower profile compared to my old RAV4. On the negative side, the driver monitoring system reports false attention lapses, so I cannot use highway driving assist. More seriously, the ICCU failed after just two months, and it took two months to get a replacement.

Nice ride at a great price

I was not in the market for a car, but my old car got totaled. I ended up getting a 2 year lease of the Ioniq, which was a great deal, and gives me 2 years to decide if an EV is right for me. It drive very nicely, the interior is very nice - quite large actually (rear passengers have tons of leg room). Its fun to drive!
