Great car held back by reliability and software concerns

Many advanced features, and in many cases the hardware is better than the major EV competitors (Tesla). Great interior materials and ride quality, and love the exterior design. Tons of space inside and very roomy. Reliability and software concerns are the only thing holding the car back from perfection in my opinion. The ICCU has been constantly mentioned in social media and forums and it seems to be a frequent issue for people even after recalls. The fact that Hyundai has never addressed the issue directly with a detailed reason why it is happening or permanent fix causes a lot of anxiety when traveling with this car. Secondly, compared to dedicated EV manufacturers the software update frequency is abysmal. Lack of communication on upcoming features. An update to add arrival SOC to the navigation had been shown in some videos back in Spring 2025 and has yet to be pushed to cars. Also a basic feature for many other manufacturers is to lock the car when walking away but is missing for some reason on this car.

Great car, software needs work

Drives well. Charges fast. Good range. Comfortable. Lots of elbow room. Good visibility out the windows. Software always works - eventually. But it is glitchy sometimes. Honestly, it tries too hard to be smart. Better to be a bit dumber and more consistent.

Lots of lack of attention to detail

A few panels are loose on the outside of the vehicle around the doors. The interior is very comfortable but you can see lack of attention to details, as if the assembly was done quickly and without thorough quality control e.g. seat leather around the headrest height adjustment is not form fitting and so shows the foam from the seat.

Good Car But Could Have Been Better.

Storage, especially, in the frunk could have been much better. It appears the frunk could be, at least, twice as deep as it is. It's only 3-4" deep but there is 6" of free space below it that could have been used. Since the rear 'hidden' storage, beneath the hatchback platform, is only 3" deep, it is nearly unusable.

some software problems and placement of cameras not optimal

I don't really like the camera screens being behind the steering wheel. They're very often hidden and my eyes don't naturally go there to find them. They should be on the main screen. Also, my car's auto windshield wipers don't work. I have to do it all manually. To get it serviced., I have to let the service department have the car for 24 hours! That's hard to plan for!

Fun, versatile, and reliable

Maybe EV’s halo the environment, maybe they don’t. Regardless, this car is fun to drive with excellent pick-up and sustained acceleration. Stearing is responsive, visibility is great, and seating is comfortable. The tech actually works - every time (wireless Apple CarPlay). I appreciate the convenience of charging at home, waking up to a “full tank” every morning, and when charging away from home, the fast charge options are a big plus.

No issues, except for alignment issue where the car pulls to the right. Got alignment done twice and it is a little better but still pulls to the right. The rental I got was the same ‘25 ioniq5 and it had the same alignment issue so I’m wondering if the alignment issue is on most of the ‘25 ioniq 5

More practical than my Tesla Y, without the political baggage

Very comfortable to drive. Good value. Screen is easy to see but not as overwhelming as the Tesla screen (I traded in a Tesla Model Y. To get the Ioniq5). I don’t have the feeling that Hyundai will lie to its customers about mileage like Tesla does.

Great Car!

Absolutely love the car! Has its quirks but overall we absolutely love it. Only issue we really have is with the included level 1 charger randomly not charging and saying it’s disconnected when it’s locked into place. Also have an issue with the plastic on the hatch handle coming apart when you pull the hatch down to shut it. Getting better than rated miles/charge and have been very happy.

Ioniq5 competes well with Tesla Y

I like almost everything about Ioniq 5. Drives great, is comfortable, nice display with Apple CarPlay. My biggest complaint is that there is no driver preference for seats so each time I drive the car after my spouse I have to move the seat back to a position I prefer. Seems like a minimal feature. My last car was a 2016 middle market car that had two driver seat options. Given all the electronic features on the Ioniq, it seems rather inexplicable this isn't provided.

High expectations have been exceeded! A great EV!

We have been incredibly impressed with our IONIQ 5; from rich features to great driving dynamics, it's been an amazing vehicle. The 2025 upgrade to the NACS port makes charging on longer trips easy and reliable.
