Ioniq 5 SEL

I like the car a lot. I think that it's got many good features like the entertainment system, handling, turn radius, mileage per charge, and visibility. It has a couple of quirks like it will open automatically with the key (or phone app) present, but it doesn't lock automatically when you walk away from it.

Efficient, beautiful styled, good value

efficient, can fast charge, cool looking, the 2025 model has NACS port and also comes with adaptor to use CCS, good value, and that's all that really matters - save by swapping gas with electric along with an affordable monthly payment. Now onto the downsides: dimension wise it's a bit on the smaller size, especially when comparing to the Model Y. The back seat will be tight for 3 passengers, and rear truck space can put about 3 full size luggages. No clear placement in the center console area for phone number, will be an odd/awkward placement on the left if you are not used to it. Ride is a bit on a sporty side. Trunk lift is hard to close. Interior (door panel) may be difficult to clean because of its moon-crater/dot design, dirt gets trapped inside the little squares. no grab handle in front row

Exceeded my expectations

I am pleasantly surprised with my 2025 Ioniq 5. It has, mostly, exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, driving, and quality. After purchasing my new Ioniq 5 my wife and I drove it nearly 4000 miles on a cross country road trip. During that trip I found several issues with the tech that bothered me. I am hoping that the software update that is to be available in a couple days is going to remedy the problems I have with some of the vehicle operation and navigation technology. The thing that bothers me most in my vehicle is the constant warnings about taking a break and keeping eyes on the road. This is maddening and goes off far too often and for no reason whatsoever. It is worse with sunglasses on, but even with them off it warns me if I so much as turn my head to look at something in my blind spot or out the window. I should be able to disable these systems, they are incredibly annoying and actually detract from safety rather than aid it. They also detract from the overall experience of driving in the car. I leased my Ioniq 5 for 3 years thinking I may buy the car at the end of the lease. But I will not buy this car, or buy another Hyundai if it has these systems and they cannot be disabled. It is especially annoying on long trips when you want/need the vehicle to be comfortable. One other problem that I have heard will be fixed in a coming update is that the Hyundai navigation system does not allow me to specify the SOC I want to arrive at a charger with. It also does not allow me to choose my route, it always routes me on a highway, even if I want a different back road route. Our road trip was on (mostly) Route 66, the Hyundai nav app was completely useless. I ended up using the app called ABRP (with an OBD dongle) instead. My "Comfort" rating of 4 out of 10 is due to the f'ing safety warnings!! If not for them the comfort of the vehicle would be 8 or 9. My reliability rating is 5, but only because I don't know what the car's reliability is yet, time will tell on this. So far so good, but there are some people having issues (I hope I don't!)...

Love This Car

My Ioniq5SE is the best car I've owned; and I would have given it 5 stars if not for the problems in getting it charged. I live in an apartment so I don't have home charging. A lot of the stations I stop at don't work with the car, and I have to stick to the few I know that do work. I don't feel I can take it out of town for fear of not being able to find a station that will work for me. But I love driving the car; it works perfectly; I love all the little thoughtful bells and whistles. It's very comfortable to be in; very quiet and has great pick up! I love the design and color too.

Love the Ioniq 5

Tons of features in the limited version. Can't believe how much more advanced it is than a car from just a few years ago. So fun to drive. My gas powered car feels like a slug (despite having lots of horse power) compared to this EV.

So good it makes me want more

This is my second Ioniq 5, so definitely liking the car, and the improvements in the 2025 are great vs the 2024. One big downgrade is the eye tracking system for HDA - it doesn't like my prescription vision lenses or something (not sunglasses), and is very hard to use without triggering the warning every few seconds. I have to look directly at the sensor for the message to go away. I also wish there were more updates for the car for feedback items the community has requested for years, such as auto lock on walk away, or battery integration with google maps. Profiles don't work quite like I'd want them to for remembering drivers when they have different phones or key fobs. No integrated dashcam using the cars cameras. Missing features from the Korean version such as a powered rear seat back (like Tesla has as well to drop the seats). Fix not changing regen level when cycling drive modes (2024 was better!), and remembering one pedal mode. So many things are right about the car, so I just have things I wish would improve.

IONIQ5 is a nicely styled, excellent EV especially the latest 2025 Limited model. It is a smooth riding, quiet, efficient, reliable EV, long range with the capability for faster DC charging than most competitors. Definitely one of the best overall value for performance in the market today.

Nearly Perfect

The overall build quality is excellent. The ride comfort on the Limited edition is great. The wireless Apple Carplay integration works great (though it doesn't seem to work as well since the latest iOS upgrade). The inclusion of charging adapters at no additional cost during this time of electric vehicle charging transition was an excellent move. The fact that the NACS charge port is in the wrong position for effective use at most Tesla Superchargers, coupled with the continued worry about ICCU failure, keep this vehicle from being perfect.

So far, love it

Love the car so far, except having to reset iPedal after shifting gear back to drive, having to activate automatic high beam function every time, system reads the phone number, digit by digit, when reading text messages, matte paint(why???) that the rep didn't explain until I was driving off the lot, wrong information about charging adapter (there are 2 - only told me about 1, not a fault of the car!).

Perfect car, save for two major inconveniences

By far the worst: the doors not locking automatically after you walk away is unforgivable, considering it’s visually obvious that the handles are open from a mile away when forgotten, inviting opportunistic theft. Sure, I get a notification in the MyHyundai app, but this is long delayed and requires WiFi or data reception. Secondly, the turning radius of a school bus. It took me a seven point turn to maneuver out of a tight parking spot at REI where a Volvo 240 parked two spots away was able to leave the spot without reversing at all. Nit: some of the black plastic cladding on the exterior feels cheap and one of the clips that holds it in place wasn’t even secure when I picked up my car, making it stick out a little. The car key has the build quality of an $8 Walmart children’s toy from 1995. I’d like to be able to lock and unlock my vehicle through tactile differentiation of the two buttons alone, rather than having to squint at the key and rotate it around in my hand.

Closest I've been to a personal spaceship

Overall, this car is flat out amazing. Great performance, super efficient, and wonderfully quiet interior. The flaws are few, and maybe more personal preference... There's no good place to put your sunglasses when you're not wearing them, and they apparently removed the drivers side overhead door handle. That's it. That's all I can complain about. The Android and Apple integrations work great, the user profiles are cool, and sound system rocks. I know I'll need snow tires soon (Colorado) but I'm sure it will do fine in the weather.

Perfect Commuting Car
