Love it

The Ioniq 5 limited is our fourth EV. Prior to this I leased EVs because the technology was changing so rapidly. I bought the Ioniq 5 because, as a retired electronics engineer, I feel the Ioniq 5 is at the peak of a relatively stable technology. I looked as several competing luxury EVs and chose tech over luxury. We love the Ioniq.

Infotainment system distracting

Pleased with comfort/handling/driveability in wet/snow/dry conditions. Infotainment panel contains too much info that is distracting to the driver. Understand Hyundai is considering adding more buttons/knobs rather than swiping-I think this would be good move-for me focusing on climate system back to slide levers, knobs, and physical push/pull buttons.

In General a Great Car, but Hyundai Should be Aware of Concerns

Car has a stylized and polished look and a very smooth ride. Power and acceleration are great. Turning radius could be improved for a car of this size. Material on the inside of passenger doors looks good, but very cheaply designed and easily subject to damage. For this issue and many other issues, Hyundai should monitor the variety of Ioniq 5 forums, on Reddit and other platforms. From the forums, warranty services and dealer response appear to be universally poor. In particular, there is a great deal of concern regarding the longevity of the ICCU, which appears to fail on both new and older models. Infotainment system needs improvement, such as the ease of use of the Media screens, the ability to set default screens. The temperature and heater/ac controls are not visible in bright sunlight and need immediate improvement on future models.

Has a ton of potential

There needs to be some common sense improvements to the car: less sensitive safety systems, walk away auto lock, a less ugly key fob, and a less finicky climate system that allows for recirculated air while a temp setting is on auto. Improvements also need to be made to the IR sensor for HDA cruise control - by either removing it and coming up with a different system, or allowing polarized sunglasses to be worth by the driver and the system to work. QA should also be addressed with ICCU problems, and, in my case, the car being sold to me with misaligned wheels and a broken, jammed, passenger side front door.

A blast to drive, competent off-road, killer styling.

Bought the XRT trim and took it up a ski mountain service road the very next day. Good clearance. On-road, ridiculously quick out of the hole, esp in Sport Mode. Was going to wait to buy a Rivian in 2026 but some orange d-bag nuked the EV tax credits before that model came out. Ioniq was an unexpected, but surprisingly worthy, substitute.

Nice car with drawbacks

Wanted to try electric and did not want to go Tesla, so gave the ioniq a shot on a 2 year lease. Overall, it’s a nice driving vehicle with plenty of room. Range, however, SUCKS. No matter what I do, with each subsequent charge my max range diminishes. 250 miles is just not acceptable unless you’re just putting around town.

Great value and super fun

This car is a value sleeper. I checked out many of the competitors and it is as good or better in quality and comfort than all of them including the Audi, BMW, Tesla, Rivian and others.

Love it, but it has a few flaws.

Overall, I love the car. But over the few months that I have had the car, I have noticed a few things that I wish were better. 1. Worst thing: There are a couple spots on the passenger rear that seem to be clear coat or paint defects, they are 3 ~3" diameter circular splotches that show up in certain lights (hard to photograph, but attached 2 of them, they are all on the right rear door). Unfortunately, I purchased and took delivery at night and did not notice them. 2. Most annoying at the moment: After 2 months of rattle free driving, it has developed a rattle that seems to be coming from the interior of the back hatch area, or trunk 3. The windshield wipers don't work great, and within 2 weeks of buying the car, it needed more windshield wiper fluid. 4. The silly little door edge guards that were added are peeling off. That is annoying as I didn't want them in the first place, they were put on without my say, paid for, and now they are falling off. 5. Their have been a couple of times when there was a slight loss of power during stronger acceleration. Almost feels like the clutch slipping in a manual car. It's a weird feeling and not expected from this drivetrain. 6. Why doesn't it have seat memory? This seems so easy to have just 1 setting per driver profile, I know the limited has 2 per profile, mine should have at least 1.

WORST CAR EVER AND WORST DEALERSHIP

This car is terrible. It gets terrible mileage. It is less than 3 months old and the electrical system on the dashboard is faulty. The Dealership shows terrible customer service. They don't provide loaner cars or rental cars. They don't return phone calls. They lie about the cars in stock. They have you spend hours there, sign paperwork for a car that doesn't exist and then send you on your way. They only return calls if you threaten to make a scene.
