A Tight Machine
First of all, my wife is driving our second Sonata Sport Turbo 2.0, both of which I have driven a lot. I have been behind the wheel of everything from Ferrari's to Cadillacs and many in between. In addition, I currently ride a Kawasaki Ninja 1400. At the age 59 and have owned more cars than I have lived in years. This is just to shed some light on the experience of the person sharing this review of the Elantra GT. So . . . here goes: I love the body design of my GT. It has the look of a "tight machine"! Of course, this one being black doesn't hurt. I am impressed with the ride, the extra bit of power (over my previous Elantra), and the interior design. I like the look inside and out. This car handles really well in traffic with fairly nimble handling and enough power to maneuver and accelerate into position when needed. The gas mileage is decent, ( average upper 20's) and highway in the 30's. I love the leather appointed interior, the grill design and the smokey finished aluminum wheels. Other attributes to appreciate include: top-of-the-line stereo, fog lamps, the rear backup camera, extra large sunroof and a level cargo area when the seats are folded down. One of the best features are the heated or vented leather seats, according to the weather. Last but not least, the ability to shift the automatic transmission. I can relax and leave it in drive or choose to shift for extra power and maneuverability. I actually like it better than when I first bought it. I took a coworker to an appointment in my GT and he compared it to a BMW. Not a bad comparison.
