Jerry's Genesis GV80
The GV80 is an amazing vehicle. It has wonderful features and value for the pricing. With so many features, I believe there needs to be more opportunity for owners to learn about them and the various setting on their vehicle. What options can be adjusted and what are "normal" reactions or sounds, alerts, movements for the car. I think sales and service people are not as educated about all those items in order to impart them on their customers.
In addition, the customer service experience is poor. A majority of dealerships are Hyundai dealerships and in my area specifically virtually all. The nearest stand alone Genesis dealership is under construction and 90 min away. My experiences with both service and vehicle issue has been horrible. Unresponsive service departments that don't call back or follow up. Long lag times for appointments. No loaner vehicles available for weeks or at all. Oil changes performed that were not requested or approved. My oil was changed 3 times within the first year or 5,000 miles because I brought the car in for an issue with the speakers. Since a limited number of oil changes are included, they burned through 3 before I was even should have had the first one. I have dealt with 2 local dealers with poor results. I have contacted others with no return call. I have shared my thoughts on focus groups, surveys and even had a case opened and dealt with a wonderful agent at National Consumer Affairs. Unfortunately, despite his involvement, the vehicle issue could not be replicated at the dealership and the responsiveness of the service department has not been consistent. I have owned other luxury brands and their customer service is leaps and bounds above my experiences with Genesis.
I would highly recommend the vehicle but would be concerned about the overall experience because of the service.
