Traded up from my 2002 Outback to 2010.
What I wanted was a certified pre-owned later version of the same 2002 Subaru Outback I'd purchased new and driven for 10 years. I was disappointed to learn of the changes Subaru had made over time. After researching dealerships in Maine & NH at great length I found myself negotiating on this crossover with apprehension. This vehicle is larger than my 2002, along with the upgrades I didn't need or want. What I did know was that I did not want a Forester, having driven one and found it did not hold the road like the Outback. You can go from a Forrester to an Outback but not an Outback to a Forrester. Among other stats, I checked on ratio of wheel base to road height and found to be the same as my 2002. This 2010 is like a luxury car in comparison to my 2002. It's reliable, drives well, is comfortable, and I've happily adjusted to the 'luxury upgrades' my 2002 didn't have. The style is nice, tho' I don't care for the color gray by any name, it's common, 99% of vehicles in any parking lot are some shade of gray. It holds the road well, not quite as well as my 2002. I was so used to my 2002 it's unlikely I'd be 100% sold on any other.... it's like your favorite pair of slippers, nothing can compare to that comfort level. ;<)
