Subaru Tribeca.... nice ride... poor MPG
We bought this car for my wife from a good friend who moved out of state. The car was maintained immaculately and doesn't look even close to its age. It rides very nice, is quiet, has abundant power... but I believe my wife insisted on buying it for the heated seats. They are nice in the winter. The three complaints I have would be that the head rest can not be positioned in any comfortable position for me. It doesn't rotate and forces my head to far forward to be comfortable for any length of time. Second, is the MPG. We expected to be able to get a combined rate of at least 20 MPG if not better. We've not been able to get more than 15 even for Hwy. Lastly, its is hard for the home mechanic to do maintenance such as plug changes. They are located low and in-between the frame rails... it is necessary to put the car on a lift to do the job. I did, however, get the alternator changed myself... it took a bit and fortunately my hands aren't very large. Oh... and one more thing... as a mini van driver myself, I'm used to lots of good visibility 360 degrees. The rear view out of the Tri feels a bit tunnel vision-esque.
