25 Years Old and Still a Beloved Family Member
I used to buy a new car every 7 years (previously had a Mark VIII), but when I retired in 2006, this car had relatively low mileage (guessing under 60,000 miles) and I continued to maintain it regularly, and, since it is parked in the California sunlight, have had it painted twice. The transmission did need replacing (note I live in a mountainous area) but Lincoln did help with the cost, and it's been fine since. The only other change of note was to replace the headliner which was succumbing to the heat. The mileage now is about 80,000 miles, lower than would be expected as I was disabled for a couple of years while the car was not moved. Before returning to driving, I had the car towed to my local mechanic where, as I expected, new tires and a battery were added with only minor moderations made. I am hoping that this car maintains its superb performance and I will keep it until something untoward might happen. Love the car.
