2004 Lincoln Aviator.
This vehicle has been one of the most solid and reliable that I have ever owned. Built on a Ford Explorer (Ranger) truck frame, but significantly reinforced to nimbly carry a ton of extra weight, it has always been a top performer. Carry the Fire Cobra engine, it is more powerful than the Navigator and shocks high performance vehicles on an entrance ramp. Strong enough to carry high weight trailers, I have never put one on it.
The Cobra engine requires premium fuel. This vehicle has exclusively had Chevron Supreme with Techron. About a year ago, I had a respected Ford racing mechanic replace the timing chain (the plastic guides had become brittle and were breaking after 155,000 miles. While the engine’s interior was exposed, another Ford mechanic came up with a BMW mechanic and remarked how clean the engine was after 55,000 miles. My mechanic had to correct them that this was the first time the factory seals had been separated after 155,000 miles.
Chevron Supreme and Castillo synthetic every 5,000 miles and never letting any discrepancy stay on the vehicle. I’m a test pilot, so letting discrepancies hang around goes against the grain. It’s at 175,000miles now and running string, but the time has come to move on. I’ll be selling it soon if anyone is interested in a strong vehicle that dies everything well, ask Dylan.
I truly wish that they still made them!
