Should have checked the car fax before buying at CarMax but my daughter did not know to do that
Went in to get brake pads replaced. First had to go get the wheel lock from the dealership. The ultimate outcome was that it needed new calipers, rotors and brake pads for a total of $2300. Apparently there was considerable damage from salt which rusted out the mechanical parts. The car did come from somewhere near the east coast and the damage, according to the most trustworthy Holt Auto Repair, was years in the making whereas the car had been purchased about 2 years ago in Memphis (A 2016 with relatively low mileage.) I will be talking to CarMax about this. Other than some not so important lights on the dash that would take dealership attention, the car runs well and has effective safety features.
