Decent car, lousy dealership
This was my second Tucson and it was a nice car. Problem was, I bought after owning a Subaru Forester for several years. The Tucson just didn't feel as solid on the road as the Forester. All the interior stuff is as nice, but I really missed the Forester. Also, it had something off with the accelerator, bucking and surging for the first 15 minutes of driving. Since when has a car needed to be warmed up? 20 years? My friend bought the same car 3 days after I bought mine and hers drove fine.
I contacted the dealer by leaving a message on a Service writer's voice mail, I had a "chat" with the lady in the chat bubble, and I made an online service request, stating the problem with the car. Crickets. After a few days I contacted the chat lady again and she assured me someone would get back to me soon. More crickets. I had just spent almost $40k with these guys and no one could spare 3 minutes to say hey we got your message? Unreal.
About 7 weeks after I bought it, I traded the Tucson in on a brand new Forester. Felt like I'd come back home. Maybe they can fix the problem. I've still NEVER heard from Escondido Hyundai. Sure hope someone up the food chain a ways sees this and does something about the unbelievably bad follow up at the dealer. I'll certainly never own another Hyundai.
