Many "upgraded" feature and driver assist features are horrible.
I upgraded to a Hybrid Tucson primarily for the better gas mileage. I drive long distances often. The driver assist features and some of the automated features make the driving experience horrible. Primarily, the Driver Attention Warning System makes it extremely annoying to drive for longer than two hours. Primarily due to this feature, but also others, I am trying to sell this vehicle as soon as I can, and I will never own a Hyundai again. I have owned 4 previous Hyundai vehicles, and I have been very happy with those 4.
After 2 hours of driving, any SLIGHT movement causes the Driver Attention Warning system (the "coffee cup" warning that says "consider taking a break") to alarm. A slight gust of wind, a slight change in speed, etc., will cause this. I'm not referring to the camera that looks at your eyes, ensuring you're focused on the road (when using the lane assist and cruise control). Even when not using cruise control or any lane assist features, the "coffee cup" warning will go off pretty much every one to two minutes after the 2 hour point. Since I drive long distances often, this is extremely annoying. This feature alone is why I am trying to sell this vehicle as soon as I can afford to, and never buying a Hyundai again. In older models, you could turn that "feature" off. But now, you cannot. The warning goes off even when I am very alert, and very focused on driving. It's clear that after the 2 hour point, the parameters for the warning change. It seriously goes off every 1-2 minutes at that point, if there is even the slightest amount of wind or anything. I'm assuming the engineers designed the car for city driving only, and that they determined it is unsafe to drive for longer than 2 hours. Out in the Midwest, we drive on highways a lot, where there is wind.... and we drive longer distances.
The "auto" feature on the windshield wipers works horribly. In "auto," the wipers are usually either going as fast as they can, or not going at all, resulting in having to use the other modes. They should have left an "intermittent" setting. "Auto" works horribly and is useless.
Apple Carplay works horribly in this vehicle. In my 2021 Hyundai Tucson, which I traded in to get this 2026 Tucson, Carplay worked great. Same phone. I even tried another phone. Same problem. I have unpaired and tried it again. Siri normally cuts off what you are saying, and it randomly disconnects Carplay, both when my phone is connected with Bluetooth or with a USB cable.
The use of the "overhead" camera for pulling into a parking spot WAS a GREAT feature - I loved this feature in my 2021 Tucson. For my new Tucson, that camera can only be used when less than 6 mph. At that point, I'm already in the parking spot, so it is useless. The speed "cutoff" needs to be more like 10 mph to make it useful. So I rarely even use it now.
Many of these features, primarily the Driver Attention Warning system "coffee cup" could be fixed with a software update. According to technicians at my dealership, this will not be done. Because of that, I will sell this vehicle as soon as I can, and I will never buy a Hyundai again, nor will I ever recommend one. Hyundai really messed this up. And while it may seem petty to complain about this issue, when you drive long distances as much as I do, it is extremely frustrating and annoying to have to pull over to the side of the road, and turn the car off and back on to fix a stupid issue like that. A software update could be done to allow drivers to disable that feature, like they used to.
