Coolant and oil leaks on a brand new car?!?!?!
Disappointed in the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited. I can smell coolant when I pull the car into the garage. No obvious leaks. At two months old and ~2,000 miles I noticed the ICE coolant level was a little low (it was exactly at the Max line when new). OK, maybe there was a little bit of air the the system that needed to get worked out... no big deal. Brought it back up to the Max line.
Five months later the coolant level is below the Min line. I can still smell coolant when pulling into the garage. Take it to the dealer. Could not find leak. To top things off, the dealer does not add any coolant. Really, what does the Min level mean then? The factory trained mechanics at the dealer must think the Min level is just a suggestion? Maybe they know better than Hyundai's engineers...
A week later, I take it back to the dealer. Still cannot find the leak. This time they overfill the coolant above the Max line. Really? Is the Max line just a suggestion? Do the engineers not know what they are doing? Obviously the mechanics know better...
Now it is a year later and the coolant is below the Min line. How far below Min is OK (since the lines are really just a suggestion, right?) Maybe Hyundai will reach out to me and let me know how low is OK.
Issue two... oil leak from the lower to upper oil pan flange. Really?!?!? On a brand new car??? In 2024??? This is not rocket science. How did something so obvious get overlooked at the factory?
Issue three - depreciation. My 18 month old Tucson with below average miles has depreciated nearly $20k. Wow. why is that? Are Hyundais really that bad?
