Great choice! Punches above its weight!

My 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited compares favorably to luxury compact SUVs costing many thousands more. It is smooth, quiet, and has almost ever option you’d want in a vehicle. It has been reliable and reasonably fuel efficient and is a spirited drive. I would gladly replace it for a newer model that has an improved front end look and better controls (if I didn’t want to extend my car payments!).

Love the car / Hate the back-up noise!

We love our Hynduai, Tucson Hybrid! A couple of problematic issues though…the noisy back-up sound when moving in reverse ~ could it be a quieter, musical tone (or non-existent) like other vehicles? And also - really a deal breaker if we were to buy another car…if you leave for a vacation of 5 or more days, and lock your car doors, the vehicle’s 12-volt battery loses charge and will not allow you to open the door with the key fob. The plate covering the keylock on the driver’s door is difficult (or impossible) to access, so you likely need to call AAA to unlock the doors so you can enter the vehicle and reset the 12-volt battery to start the car. So basically, leaving your car at the airport is not an option. 😞☹️😞☹️ Or even at your own home, waiting for a car service to come out to unlock your car to access the reset is beyond problematic. I wish I would have seen this in the reviews before I purchased the car.

Defects of my Tucson

I have 3 main issues with my Tucson, 2 of which are very impactful. First, I, like many I have read about, have a clear and never ending rattle sound from the engine whenever going up even the slightest incline that continues throughout the drive unless you start going downhill. I've pointed it out twice at checkups at 2 different dealerships and of course was given the classic response - "we don't hear it." A pretty bold lie. Second, the air conditioner is terrible. It simply is unable to get very cold. I've compared it to friends' cars (Audi, Tesla, Toyota) and it doesn't come close. Again, I've pointed it out to the dealer and they dismissed my complaint, saying it meets "standards" whatever that means. In Southern California, it's very rough in the summer to drive the car. Thirdly, on occasion the Carplay doesn't connect to my phone. And it's not my phone as each time it failed, I tried it on my husband's car and it worked fine. Bottom line, I love the way it looks and it's a decent drive. But it has issues and the 2 different dealerships I've been to for checkups dismissed my complaints out of hand in a very perfunctory way. So sadly I'm not in love with my car and wish I had bought a Toyota.

Overall, OK. I’m not sure I would buy another one. Good gas mileage. Lots of beeping for unknown reason. Difficult to open doors if they’re locked. Randomly lock doors.

Reliable and Comfortable

I'm very happy with our Hyundai Tucson! I wish it had come in more colors, but overall it is reliable, comfortable and full of convenient features. The backseat and cargo areas are roomy, and the driver seat is fully adjustable. It has good traction on snow and ice, and I like that it lets me know when it needs servicing. I like the controls and size of the screen in my 2023 model more than the newer ones, so I plan to keep it a long time.
