Review of 2025 Santa Cruz Limited VIN: 5NTJEDDF1SH13984
I've been interested in this truck since it first came out. Due to the many concerns for the DCT, I postponed buying one until I felt sufficient improvements were made. I also use Consumer Reports to help in my purchase research process and did for this year model as well. This truck was built in early January 2025. The original owner purchased it on February 14, 2025. The color is Rockwood Green with green interior.
The truck was offered for sale again on July 1, 2025. I purchased the truck on July 23, 2025 for $38,600 with 3,618 miles on it. The original owner added step rails at some point during ownership.
As of this report, the mileage is 8,027. I have driven the truck 4,409 miles, which is more than the original owner.
My review thus far is that this is an excellent vehicle, inside and out. This is my first truck and for my current lifestyle, it is perfect. I am 72 years old and live in coastal North Carolina. I still work part time and use the truck for hauling two kayaks and gear, trips to the beach, trips to Raleigh, NC and Fayetteville, NC where my children live, for hauling my home landscaping projects, and for supporting my volunteer efforts here. I had the oil changed October 8, 2025. I try to use Top Tier Gas though it's not available in my immediate area. I have a garage which helps protect the finish. I had a clear coat added when I bought it.
This truck is an absolute joy to drive, and my wife is impressed as well. My previous vehicle was a 2008 Toyota Rav4 Limited. I had that car for 16 years. Only decided to trade it in because of the new technology and safety on the newer cars now.
I've had no problems, no transmission, no electrical, no software issues, no rattles, no paint concerns - none. I've kept all my cars clean inside and out and it's the same with this one.
I am very sorry to hear that the truck has been discontinued. Have you seen the Consumer Reports rating in their current April issue? The truck has a far better rating than many other trucks out there that have been around forever. Reports indicate that Hyundai will instead build a larger truck. That is certainly an option but why just drop this model? Just about all the complaints have been on early models. The '24 and '25 year models seem to be performing very well.
I do hope that Hyundai will continue to provide premium parts and service for those of us that love the truck, as I plan to keep my Santa Cruze Limited for a long time, just as I did with the Rav4. Please don't let us down.
