It is an excellent vehicle, one I have been waiting to get since I first get a plug-in hybrid vehicle in 2013. There are some flaws, but overall I'm extremely pleased with it.

All the bells and whistles an EV should have

I've been considering having an EV as my next car ever since I converted my home from a gas heater, gas water heater, and gas cooktop to an all-electric residence powered by solar with battery storage. But the sudden death of my beloved 1997 Mercedes E320 sedan was the spark that ignited my move. After investigating several EV options, I decided to lease a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited RWD EV. I was impressed by the vehicle's contemporary styling, roomy interior and flexible trunk storage area, safety features, infotainment system allowing not only touchscreen controls but also traditional buttons, ECO driving mode with a choice of regenerative braking options, and the introduction of the new NACS charging port standard. During the first 10 weeks of my 2025 Ioniq 5 experience, I have been doing mainly urban driving up and down the hills of my coastal city, but I have also taken two four-hour drives to the Sierra Nevada foothills and back. I have been pleased with the performance of this EV in both very different driving environments.

Excellent EV Experience - Amazing Value!

Overall very pleased with my 2025 Ioniq 5 SEL. Wonderful build quality, excellent ride, great visibility, comfortable interior that's also very easy to clean, and easy-to-use controls (love having physical buttons for things instead of everything being done through the touchscreen like many other EVs). I'd definitely buy this car all over again!

Love it - except for an annoying rattle.

The car is great overall, but there’s an annoying rattle in the area of the dashboard (maybe around the heads-up display). We had hoped that it might go away after awhile, but we now have a little over 1,000 miles on the car, and it’s still there .We’ll be taking it back to the dealership to diagnose and fix.

The best alternative to Tesla

We're so far very happy with our first EV - extremely smooth ride, all the acceleration you need, nice driver assistance features like smart cruise, lane control, etc. Wish we had gone for the higher trim level, as we miss features like auto-hatchback lift, foldable exterior mirrors, driver seat memory, wireless phone charger, et al.

I love it

We were looking for an electric car to replace our Ioniq hybrid. After quite a bit of research, we landed on the Ioniq 5 Limited. It checks all the boxes we need. The safety options are great, comfort is just what we want as we are getting older, and the performance is excellent. We are happy with it range and charging time, but we do recommend a Level 2 charger at home. As for reliability, we don't know yet--We've had the car for 3 months. Judging from our previous Hyunday, though, we expect no surprises. On top of all the good qualities, it is by far the best "bang for the buck" we could find in the EV market.

Unexpected bonuses

My 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited doesn’t stop surprising me with many convenient features and details. I love almost everything about it. The way the driver seat moves back to let you in, the way the car drives and sounds, the modern streamlined design. My only problem is the climate control panel. It’s touch sensitive and the surface is very shiny, reflecting the sunlight and making it nearly impossible to see any of the buttons during the day. I wish those buttons were not digital but rather mechanical because the way buttons are designed now, it’s very easy to accidentally brush against them when using the volume knob, and messing up the climate settings. Physical buttons for climate control would be so much safer to operate when driving. I don’t want to park the car just to change the climate settings. That would be a huge improvement. Otherwise I love everything else about the car.

Excellent city car with decent highway range

2025 Ioniq 5 has more than enough range for city driving and work commute. The car is plenty powerful and responsive, quiet and hardly let's in wind noise and road noise. The interior design and layout is well thoughtout and as a first time EV owner, the transition was smooth from a gas powered car. The only major issue is the range gets cut in half at highway speeds of over 65 mph. Otherwise a fantastic daily driver and an excellent car and EV.

Assistive technology

It pulls me into the middle of the road whilst cars are coming at me, when on dirt roads it makes driving unsafe!! It can. Not. Recognize the edge of a dirt road well at all. The soft ware needs more mapping of back country roads or to just turn off the assist when it can’t see lines. It’s actually dangerous.

Good built, very bad software

The car is built really good, range is good. Only complaint is the software. It's like a car built in 2025 with software from 2000.

Red 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT

Overall, I love the car. It's fun to drive, very practical (it's great that it has NACS and charging adapters), very well designed with lots of space for my bike and luggage, etc. I love all the security warning systems and the different camera views all around the car. My main concern is that on long trips, it seems to always provide substantially less range than is indicated, which is alarming for someone who had no real experience with EVs before leasing it. Having driven from Northern Virginia to New Jersey and to New York City, to Long Island and to Vermont, I now have seven different charging apps. One big problem was that two Tesla Supercharger stations (in Brattleboro, VT and White River Junction, NH) would not charge the car at all, though the pumps did not indicate they were for Teslas only, so this was aggravating and panic-inducing, as I had to find new charging places even further off my route. Other Tesla Superchargers have worked perfectly.

Most fun car I have ever had!!

I have owned a couple of 911 Porsches, several BMWs, 3 Saab Turbos, Audis, a '73 Datsun 240Z, an early Mazda RX7.....my Ioniq 5 is the most fun I have ever had1 I love just "filling up" at my Level 2 charger in my own garage and at a fraction of the cost of premium gas. I don't know why I waited so long to get my 1st EV, but this will not be my last! I have recommended this car to 4 friends......and they all leased one!!
