Good car when it’s not in the shop for weeks

Vehicle has been in the shop for repairs twice now for battery issue that is yet to be figured out. Love the car but super frustrating to not be able to actually drive it.

I love my new Ioniq 5

There is nothing I don't like about my 2025 Ioniq 5. I love the room, technical internal features, the outside looks, and the range. I really like all the videos available to learn about any of the new features not immediately understandable.

My venture into E.V.'s

The Ionic 5 is a technological marvel that reinvigorated my love of driving. I had a Hybrid car for over 20 years and always felt that performance compromise was part of the efficiency equation. Not so with the Ionic 5- this car really moves! I especially appreciate all of the safety and efficiency features of the car, including the ability to toggle the features on and off depending on the traffic and weather conditions.

So much is great with a few tiny flaws

Overall I love the car's exterior style, the accelaration, and the beautiful interior. Only a few minor negatives: -1 Get rid of the leg rest on driver seat and add driver settings to keyfob -2 I want the car to remeber that I was using FM favorites - currently it default to all FM station -3 Auto lock car when I walk away -4 Add a deeper center console with lid and keep smaller open storage

Just a few quirks

We love our 2025 IONIQ Limited and love driving an EV. Just a few quirky things we don't like. The hatch opening requires you to wait 15 seconds before you can walk up and open the car doors. This is awful. Even when I count seconds while I return the shopping cart and come back, the car doors won't open, and I have to get either the key or phone out to open them. Next is the drive assist. When I'm wearing sunglasses, the heads-up is completely gone. What sort of sunglasses do I have to have?? Next is also the drive assist...when the sun shines at just the wrong place, the lane assist is suddenly gone. No warning. Nothing. The car just starts roaming. Terrible.

Great car

This car surprised me from my first sit in the driver’s seat. It’s roomy and nimble. The button s are intuitive. I got the SEL, and it’s just fancy enough. This isn’t a luxury car, but I smile every time I drive it.

I don't get this question

I like the car. I traded in a Tesla Y for the Ioniq. The only thing the tesla had that is not on the IOniq is the door locking system. On the Tesla when you walk away the car automatically locks. Not the Ioniq. I really liked that feature on the Tesla. Otherwise really like the Ioniq. Maybe more than Tesla and it does not have the toxic brand image.

Sleek and fun to drive

I am surprised I like my Hyundai Ioniq 5 so much. It has a nice design and functions well. It's my first EV and the thing most missing is dealership knowledge about on the road charging. There are many apps but the personal touch is so helpful. I finally met one person who has been awesome.

There have been many improvements in the Ionic 5 since 2022

For one, the range is exceptional. Even driving in standard mode (i.e., not Eco) I can get 366 miles; this is in Los Angeles with a combination of freeway and non-freeway roads and streets, and even with some air conditioning use. I'm not shy about using the accelerator either. The cabin details are improved with more sensible assignment of functions between the interactive screen and buttons beneath the screen and in the center console. The elevated cradle for wireless phone charging also positions the phone so it can be used as a secondary route tracker. The charger port is now Tesla-compatible (NACS) and you attach an adapter to use with J1772 Type 1 chargers. However, there is no longer the possibility of using a CCS Type 2 fast charging connection. Presumably, access to the wider network of Tesla chargers will eliminate the need to use CCS2 DC chargers, although there are still places where there are no nearby Tesla chargers.

Got the car as a lease to try out electrics, and while the thing took a bit of getting used to over the first week or so, after ~2 months now, I think I'm sold on the idea of buying an electric when this lease is up. Electrics have their quirks, but not dealing with gas stations is 11/10.

Love it for so many reasons

We love BOTH of our new Ioniq 5's. They are quiet, efficient, stylish and fun to drive. With our 28 solar panels and two batteries, we are able to keep both cars charged to 80% and still manage to sell some power back to the grid. No more weekly visits to the gas station, no more 5000 mile oil changes and no range anxiety

This is a a great car; would be perfect without a few bothersome items

So far I love this car. The ease of driving it, the comfort, the controls, etc. It is the best car I’ve owned to date (coming from a BMW 535d). But there are a few bothersome things about it that I wish Hyundai had done better: (1) the wireless charging pad heats my iPhone to near-boiling point - this is the only wireless charging pad that does this to my phone - can you please fix this!?!; (2) the turning radius is atrocious and a serious PITA when trying to park in tight parking lots; (3) I don’t understand why I can’t set the car to auto-lock when I walk away from it, esp. since it is OBVIOUS to anyone when it is unlocked; (4) I wish the “Auto Regen” feature would allow for continuous coasting travel even up a grade or on a flat stretch of town/city roads. I graded “Reliability” a 5 since I’ve only owned the vehicle for 2 months and cannot really comment on that, but your survey insists that I do, so you get an “middle grade” for that.

Great car. Hyundai needs to figure out 12v battery issues.

I've had my Ioniq 5 for just over 2 months and I love it. It's a fun car to drive with a lot of premium features. But I wouldn't want to rely on it as the sole vehicle in my household. I was not able to start my car yesterday because the 12v battery failed. I understand that 12v batteries are a consumable parts and having one fail after 2 months of ownership isn't impossible, but from everything I've seen online, this has been a huge problem from Hyundai EVs for awhile. It sounds like if Hyundai US was willing to buy higher quality AGM 12v batteries this would be less of an issue (I understand this is already happening in Europe) and I hope there has been progress in finding the overall root cause for why these batteries are draining and failing.

Excellent car but could be better

It's an excellent car. Very smooth ride and offer good feature. Although, for the price that I paid, I feel like it should offer better features. One area that could be improved on is the driver assistance warning, as sometimes it will give constant warning even when I'm actually looking at the road. But the auto cruise system is awesome. It will break smoothly based on the car in the front and I never feel scared of letting it stop by itself.
