Great car but some areas need improvement

I really like this car but can’t use any of the driver assistance aspects since the camera looking at me contually tells me my eyes are not looking at the road. I am not wearing any glasses.

Love Hate Relationship

So much to love but some deal breaker issues: will keep us from buying at end of lease: 1. Shallow trunk space 2. Poorly visible climate controls 3. Difficult adjust A/C vents (constantly fiddling with)

Excellent Automobile

This vehicle exceeds all safety standards, my main concern when purchasing a vehicle, and is an absolute pleasure to drive! It got these top safety ratings from independent agencies. It is equipped with many excellent features, looks sharp, and has excellent milage. For an electric car, it is a "dream" and now can be charged at regular and Tesla charging stations. Hyundai listens to its purchasers and so installed rear windshield wipers in the 2025 model. I couldn't be more pleased.

Second Ioniq5 better than the first, we selected 2 wheel drive and range is far superior giving us greater confidence in the car for weekends away Many other small improvements and my wife loves the ride color scheme and interior Nothing to fault so far

climate control panel difficult to use in sunshine

the climate control panel is difficult to use in bright sunshine - also when the driver adjusts the volume knob, the climate control shifts to Driver Only, leaving the passenger suddenly without ventilation -- Because of this issue, I can only give a 7 to the comfort rating in the following topic for "Comfort"

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is, at its core, an excellent EV. I love the futuristic design, the spacious interior, and the smooth, responsive performance. It’s one of the most enjoyable EVs to drive and stands out on the road in a really positive way. That said, living with the Ioniq 5 has exposed some real frustrations. Hyundai made some strange decisions with feature availability — for example, you can’t get memory seating unless you buy the highest trim. It makes little sense, especially since the car offers unique driver profiles that don’t actually adjust much of anything meaningful. It feels like an incomplete idea. I’ve also run into some quality control issues that are hard to ignore. My car came with noticeable front and rear bumper gaps, and even something as simple as the license plate holder is positioned awkwardly low. Small things like this make the build feel a little rushed, which is surprising for such a high-profile EV. On top of that, Hyundai as a brand has been difficult to deal with. Customer service is painful — reps are often clueless, unable to answer basic questions, or struggle to process even simple requests. My dealership experiences haven’t been much better, unfortunately. They give off the vibe of a shady used car lot, not the professional atmosphere you’d expect when buying a modern EV. Bottom line: The Ioniq 5 itself is a fantastic car — innovative, stylish, and fun to drive. But Hyundai undercuts its own product with questionable feature packaging, quality control slip-ups, poor customer service, and a lackluster dealership network. If they can clean up those areas, the Ioniq 5 could truly be a segment leader.

Great car with some charging issues

I really like almost everything about this car. So far my only problem is that the battery charging management system is not robust enough for the Texas summers. This make it difficult to keep the battery charged up in the summer. This is specifically a problem with the 110 volt charger that came with the car. I believe the the charge port connector get to hot and shuts down charging.

Good Car, Weird Software Limitations

The hardware for this car is rock solid. Tons of torque, especially in sport mode, great clearance so I've never bottomed out even with tricky driveways and plenty of storage space. The one exception to the "rock solid hardware" is the center console which feels flimsy, like it'll break The software is OK for the most part but there are some WEIRD limitations: * You cannot save your preferred regenerative brake setting. Instead you have to set after turning on the car EVERY SINGLE TIME * Android Auto is great, but if you plug your phone in before wireless Android Auto kicks in, your phone will use wired Android Auto and it disconnects every few seconds * The car announces red-light cameras even when using Android Auto when the built-in navigation should be turned off. There doesn't appear to be any way to turn this "feature" off * You cannot set your preferred home screen. I always want the car to start with "media" by default, but I have to press the "media" button after the car starts every time with no apparent way to change this. * The driver login is excessively long. It would be way better if it detected the key currently in use and just used that profile * There's no way to disable the "confirm" screen. I don't need this confirmation, especially after the 50th time seeing it, please let me bypass it.
