Nanny state features annoying. Poor navigation for an upscale vehicle

Has nice features but the nanny warnings can't be turned off. Navigation is nearly worthless as a map.

Allow Customers to Disable "Consider Taking a Break" Notification

The first time I drove my 2025 GV80, I knew it was the car for me. It was beautiful inside and out. Luxurious beyond expectations inside. Drove beautifully. What I discovered just 2 weeks after purchase was how unfamiliar I was with the technology. Lots of technology. Something I never thought about fully investigating during the purchase and test driving process. I also discovered that not all features could be disabled by the user/customer. Regardless of changes I have made from seat position, steering wheel position, hats, glasses etc., I cannot keep the "Consider Taking a Break" notification from coming on multiple times during a long drive - once it comes on the first time, it then comes on approximately every 12 minutes, regardless of who is driving. My husband and I have been driving for 45+ years. We now have a $80,000+ vehicle that has been designed to tell us where we must place our hands on the steering wheel, what position the drivers seat must be in, what position the steering wheel must be in, we cannot wear hats while driving, we cannot wear our prescription glasses that darken while driving. We've had the car to our dealership for help, spoken with North American customer service. All to no avail. We've been told by all, "The Consider Taking a Break Notification can no longer be disabled in the 2025 models". After taking the car on 4 long road trips (average 6 hours) with the "Consider Taking a Break" notification coming on in excess of 30 times on each trip, we no longer drive this car on long road trips. Such a disappointment. We will most likely be selling this car and will not purchase another Genesis vehicle.

The GV80 is great. Love the drive, comfort, conveniences, and the luxury features. I've had multiple issues with the driving screen and the entertainment screen / software and Genesis Service has been great in trying to address them .. even going above and beyond when possible. Not a major issue for me, but more of a nuisance.

Great look high quality. But so so on effeciency

The car is quality is second to none. Materials and ride quality is excellent. However, gas mileage suffers and is not best in class and because of the weight of the car handling is not as nimble as other vehicles.

Great car! ALMOST perfect.

The car is everything I expected after test drove it. It performs even better than I thought and if I need the power it certainly delivers and has a really smooth and quiet ride. The only negative has been the front seat belts. One was installed backward so it always clips in with a twist in the belt and both seatbelts get jammed when retracting after unbuckling. It went in for service and the twisted belt was corrected and the other was completely replaced. After keeping the car for three weeks I was cautiously optimistic and it is 95% resolved with only two instances of jamming in the last three weeks but it was easier to unjam it than before and I can’t say if it was the complete replacement belt or repaired one.

Great build and quality, but annoying and intrusive user interface.

Vehicle is well made and nicely designed inside and out. Power is sufficient but fuel economy is somewhat lacking amongst peers in the same vehicle and powertrain configuration. Ride tends to be a bit unrefined at lower speeds on city streets but seems to be better suited for highway conditions. The locking/unlocking doors with proximity key is clumsy and unpredictable leading to frustration. The largest, yet most punitive aspect of the GV80 is the horribly annoying and intrusive media interface. Upon entry into the vehicle, you're prompted for a passcode which must be entered. This should be tied to the key, not requiring further user input. Secondly, switching between XM radio and Media and then to other aspects of the user interface is clumsy and poorly laid out for use while driving. Too much functionality of the vehicle is reliant upon the driver using the screen while driving. The driver safety aids are (lane assist, HUD, and blind side alerts) are so annoying that turning them off is the only way to escape the intrusion of the driving experience, totally negating their benefits. Genesis should provide customizations to these safety programs and give driver the ability to configure these systems to their desired intrusiveness. The HUD is squarely in the line of sight for the driver and creates unnecessary distractions. This should be adjustable to lower visibility and line of vision through the windscreen. Lastly, the instrument cluster needs a more sophisticated, classy appearance, than the cartoonish guages and lack of refinement found in other luxury vehicles. A format with electronic, analog-like gauges would be a much-preferred appearance option. Driving at night with the glare from the large infotainment screen creates eye fatigue from the brightness. Functions can't be performed in the vehicle without this large, annoying screen, so options to avoid this are limited. Lastly, provide some commonsense functionality buttons on the steering wheel, please.

We have had to take our Genesis GV80 in 3 times because the battery keeps dying. It’s been at the dealership right now for over 20 days and still haven’t found the problem.

Love this car

This car is so amazing and I absolutely love it. The only suggestion I have is it’s a little bit bossy always telling me to take a break or it might be icy etc. I wish there was a way to turn that off. I would also prefer a way to completely turn off the auto stop so that I don’t have to do it every time I start the car because I feel like it’s going to ruin the starter The center console has a finish on it that fingerprints show up on the buttons. I wish that was a different finish. When the back hatch is up, it drips on you I wish there were some kind of rain gutter thing on it so that runs to the side instead of dripping on the person that’s putting stuff in the back of the car

My GV80 -2.5

Vehicle drives great, had to get used to safety features of road stability( keeping vehicle focused on roadway) and changing lanes because the steering wheel bumps for both of these and could scare you. The display panel reflects up into the windshield and gets reflected back and at times is difficult to see because of the reflected glare. Many of the comfort and safety features are embedded into the display panel and you have to go looking for them in the filing system. Vehicle has a great ride and comfort level. Vehicle seems to sit just a bit higher than other vehicles.
