Nice car, but you could learn from others...

We owned a Tesla Model S for 5 years and when things started to go wrong in 2023, traded it in for an Ioniq 6. This year we traded in our Prius for the Genesis GV60. I was hoping that the GPS in the Genesis would be better than the one in the Ioniq 6. One thing that Tesla really got right was the map/nav/gps system. It would be so great to once again get in the car on Monday morning and find that the car has already set the navigation for Work. When I get in the GV60 and hit Nav, the first thing I should see should be a one button for my favorites. No, I have to go digging and responding to prompts to just get my route set up. We use the adaptive cruise control all the time. Tesla was much better at that, too. Love the crystal ball. The puddle light was the best surprise ever.

fun but can improve tech

the car is a nice ride and fun to drive, but lacks in tech compared to the popular Tesla. genesis would have to step their game in this area. carplay for IOS doesn't automatically set up live unless it's connected to the cable v android automatically picks up. the levels 1-3 + max are confusing and play out differently. still haven't figured out which is most battery saving way to drive on the highway. city seems to be max but you'd think it would be the same for long distance drives. the phone charger overheats the phone within minutes! i haven't seen anything like it.

Issues with OTA updates

I keep keeing an alert that the car is not updating. I called Genesis and the dealership and no one seems to be able to help me.

Overall, I love the car. But there are some disappointments.

The car is gorgeous and I love driving it. However, it has been a headache and continues to be a headache. When I purchased the vehicle, brand new, the salesperson was unable to get it set up on the connected services which allows for full use of the vehicle. After countless phone calls to the dealership and customer care and the car sitting in the service department it was finally fixed after about 10 days after ownership; of which it had spent most of the time at the service department. Since then the car has been unable to process over-the-air updates and I'm told I need to bring it into the dealership to have that done which is very inconvenient for me. Lastly, now that Genesis has a partnership with Tesla charging stations I called to find out how to get an adapter for the charger. I was told because I bought the vehicle the month that I did that I had to purchase the adapter for $650 and drive to the dealership to pick it up; on top of that it took 1 phone call to customer care, 2 phone calls and a text to the dealership to obtain that information and "reserve" a charger. Perhaps I have bad luck but everything about this vehicle has been a needless headache. I drove a Tesla for 6 years and never had an issue.

The vehicle is great. The tires are not and cameras are not in the rain. They slide very easily in rain and immediately the camera starts sending warning notifications.

The car is just okay

For the money, it lacks some of the better features I’ve come to expect from Genesis. It is not quite like a Tesla. There is no heated steering wheel. The fingerprint option is dumb and never works properly

Great drive subpar tech

The drive experience is excellent and the environmental controls provide a very comfortable space for long or short trips. However, I have ongoing technical issues with OTA updates which neither customer service or dealerships seem to be be able to resolve.

Fun to drive - electronics interfaces and range could be better

Basically summarized above. I love driving the car. It handles well and has great pickup. Charging is easy and works well. However, I have had some issues with the software system - including apple carplay. Still not totally resolved. Also, another 100 mile range on a charge would be ideal.

Good car; missing some features

Much less expensive cars have wireless Apple Car Play. My son's lowest cost Kia has this feature, so not sure why a luxury car wouldn't have this. There are also some features that I was used to in my Tesla that I am surprised not to see in a car of this value. For instance, I should not have to turn on sport mode and one-pedal driving every time I get into the car. The charging cover should close automatically. These are all standard on the Tesla I traded in. It is comfortable and I enjoy driving it, but these seem to be pretty basic things the car should have.

Elegant, comfortable, and unique

We've really enjoyed our first few months with the GV60. It's very comfortable and rides well. I look forward to driving it. Some of the technology is a bit confusing. The driver door camera does not seem to work reliably to unlock, so I always bring the key with me. This was advertised as having Wireless CarPlay, but that did not work until a later OTA update that gave error messages about not being applied correctly. After several months, I now have Wireless CarPlay working, but that was a disappointment at first.

Really love this car!

This car gets most everything right. The controls are intuitive and well thought out. The programmable buttons work exactly as you'd expect - just hold them down to reprogram, no manual needed. The designers clearly focused on user experience without overcomplicating things. The styling is clean and sharp. It looks good without trying too hard. The interior layout is excellent. There's plenty of space, but more importantly, it's smart space. The area under the center console is perfect for bags and travel gear. Everything feels deliberately placed rather than just roomy for the sake of it. Safety features work as advertised. The car feels like the engineers actually drove it and fixed the small annoyances you find in other vehicles. Two minor issues: the turn radius is wider than it should be, and the door cup holders could use better design. Neither is a deal breaker, just things that could be improved. Overall, this is a car built by people who understand what drivers actually want. It handles the basics well and adds thoughtful touches without getting gimmicky.

a great car with a few issues.

this is my second GV60. my first had a 12v recharge failure one week in and is now in the buyback process. my current one, one week into ownership, has a rear driver side door handle that won't retract, a firmware update that won't finish, and a trunk close/lock button that works intermittently.
