1997 Ford Ranger
It's been a good car. Mechanically simple. However, the engine is a gutless wonder (2.4 liter 4-cylinder). Manual transmission with rear-wheel drive, so not good for snow. It was okay for the northern California valley. Gas mileage has been poor. The best ever was 24 mpg on a long downhill stretch on Interstate 80 from Wyoming into Nebraska with a west wind at our back. Otherwise, 17-20 mpg.
Even with not being garaged and dry hot summers, the rubber gasketry around windows and doors is still tight at 24 years of age.
Paint? Metallic silver is worn out.
