The same $50,000 will buy you a better SUV

Pros: More refined than the 2022 SantaFe. Hybrid Average MPG of 34. City as high as 42MPG. Limited trim comes with the same safety features that others have. Third row seating suitable for kids. Lots of cargo space. Second row seats have heating and electric motor adjustment. Second row seating is capt chairs that fold down flat with the push of a button. Speaking of buttons, the SantaFe has plenty. Yes, there’s a big responsive touch screen with Apple Car Play. And they have added lots of knobs and push buttons in addition to the touch screen. The drive train is frugal but peppy enough to merge into traffic. Cons: The devil is in the details. When looking at the window sticker this SUV seems like a good value. Yes, their car is more refined, but has lots of room for improvements. The drive train may be hybrid, but it lacks the refinement of the competition. The drive train is often jerky and somewhat noisy. The 6 speed tranny is prone to downshift when you lift your foot off the gas. Starts and stops are not smooth or seamless, but noisy and clunky. The cabin is quieter than the 2022, but has lots of room for improvements. The dash is like the Swiss Army Knife of dash boards. Very busy and likely to be distracting for most drivers who are not use to it. There are many features which could benefit from more time with the R&D team. For example the cup holders which allow our 24 oz thermos bottles to rock back and forth while rattling loudly. Although the 2026 offers improved visibility for drivers who are vertically challenged, it doesn’t provide the >10 inches the IIHS recommends between the steering wheel’s center and the drivers Sternum. For drivers of less than 5 ft height this is unlikely without adjustable pedals. A feature Hyundai doesn’t yet offer. I could go on, but I think you’ve read enough by now to go check out the competition.

We like the vehicle overall

We have had to go to the dealership twice since we bought it. Once for low air pressure in the tires. Then we had a recall concerning the seatbelts.

Little things can mean a lot

Rear a/c controller should be accessible in middle area. Rear wheel wells need to be minimized for extra room inside. Use AI to ask how to operate (…fill in the blank)

A Great Vehicle

I would like the key fobs to be smart fobs. Also would like to have the the battery last a little bit longer on the intermittent charges. There needs to be a redesign so that the cargo cover can go into the the foot at the back of the vehicle as the gasoline ones can. And the hybrid model that doesn't happen so that gets stored in the garage which is inconvenient. Aside from those minor issues, this is probably the best vehicle I've ever owned and I've owned several over the course of my life.

Good decision

I spent 6 months researching over a few different brands of medium SUVs: Kia, Honda, Subaru, Hyundai. Finally settled on the Hyundai Santa Fe, ( the 3rd I have owned over the years). Love the brownish tan leather interior. Suits my lifestyle better than the all white,and I refuse to get black interior where I live. I do need to learn how to fully engage with all the options, but that is MY issue, not the vehicle. Has plenty of pep even without the sport mode use. Getting consistent 34 mpg with the hybrid and mostly city driving. I only wish I had more exterior color choices. I have a wait and see approach to my concerns about all the electronics in new vehicles....only time will tell

I am 95% satisfied with my 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy. The 5% negative relates to the operation of the seat belt. The same issue was present on my 2024 Tucson. The seat belt is not easy to click into place because that part is not high enough. In addition, the seat belt does not fully retract when released.

Car has been good, so far. Enjoy all the features. Worried about long term reliability, based on past reviews, but confident now. Good value for the money and good warranty. The vehicle should auto change for Daylight Savings and suspension tends to bounce and roll a bit more than I would like.

2026 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy

Coming up on 4K miles, I have found little to complain about for my SF. I have driven rural roads, multi day freeway driving and metro area driving. As the miles add up, as other owners have said, the mpg just keeps getting better. I am also getting much better at manipulating the hybrids strengths and getting more miles out of electric only driving. It is becoming the norm to get 40+ mpg in metro driving. I'm also getting better at extracting and learning the many features, in this feature rich vehicle, a little at a time to fully get the most from my car. I'm still racking my mind even as I write this to come up with a legitimate complaint, but so far this car is everything my pre purchase research told me this SF would be.

Review

No warranty on tires on a brand new vehicle. Fragile, extremely expensive tire. Poor communication from service dept. on price matching offer.

Santa Fe 60 day review!

So far this vehicle has been a great ride, it’s comfortable, easy to handle, and spacious also the road noise is very minimal. It comes with quite a few safety features as well and the miles per gallon (37) right now is outstanding! Very satisfied.

Under powered. Poor mileage.

Just completed an 8,000 mile road trip. I found the vehicle comfortable to drive but it is grossly underpowered when loaded. At freeway speeds gas mileage dropped as low as 26.5 mpg. To get over 30 (barely) i had to reduce speed to 65 mph which is much slower than most freeway limits. Not what I expected from a hybrid.
