Excellent Driving Car - Needs more cupholders
Cupholders, cupholders, cupholders - Needs more cupholders. This is an excellent driving car. It drives more like a luxury car than its competitors. The seats are extremely comfortable and adjust just about any way you want them to. With the hybrid system, it both gets great gas mileage (20-45 depending on what you're doing) and has a ton of pick up. It's much quicker than the Infiniti QX60 we traded in. This car has more technology than most owners will ever use. You really do need to watch all of the videos (like taking a college class) on the car so you can learn some of the features. Even the Hyundai technicians admit they don't know all the features. it feels very planted when you're driving. I've driven it in the mountains and on windy costal roads and it handles very well. Both front and rear passengers have tons of room and are very comfortable on long drives. One of my kids is 6'4" and has plenty of leg and headroom in the back seat.
About the cup holders - Most current cars have a ton of cupholders. This car does not. You get one cupholder per passenger and one SMALL one in the door (will fit a soda can - that's it). On long drives I like to get an iced tea and an iced coffee. It really doesn't work to put a non-soda-can drink in the door. It will spill. It would be nice if the cupholder in the door was bigger. More in door storage would really be beneficial.
Be careful if you have the beautiful styled wheels. If you get too close to a curb, they will scratch.
We haven't had an issue with this yet, but we were warned by the service technician that the run flat tires can be very difficult to get. So, if you plan on a really long remote trip (like driving to Alaska), it's recommended to get an extra tire (no rim) and either put it in the back or tie it to the top. Hyundai themselves had difficulty getting these tires. If you're in some remote area at some small shop, you may be hanging out there for a few weeks until they are able to get one. Maybe they're resolving this issue? Hope so. Also, the tires are around $500+ each.
Overall, the car is great. We were worried buying a Hyundai because we're old and we remember the first Hyundais being disposable cars. We were pleasantly surprised and the build quality seems to be excellent. They also have a great warranty, which we bumped up the bumper-to-bumper to the same 100k (again, because we're old and remember the first Hyundais). We're really enjoying the car and seem to learn something new it does every week.
