Buyer remorse big time! Bad dealer experience and bad safety issues!
Problems with car.
It sometimes won’t read the key fob when I used it to turn on the car, so I can’t put it in drive until I turn the car off then use the push button to start it again. Car play was working when I got it but now does not so I have to use Bluetooth to play music. Which that won’t allow me to display my GPS on the screen so that’s useless. That stupid welcome / who’s driving start up display with the count down is annoying! I’m the only driver…ever! When I unlock the car in the dark the lights come on but only stay on for 30 or so sec. I live in the country so we don’t have street lights. I can’t even make it across my yard before the lights go out and I can’t see. I hit the unlock button again and the lights won’t come back on till I’m in the car. Completely useless! Every vehicle I have ever had allows the light upon unlock to stay on long enough for me to cross my yard and enter the car and turn the lights on again if I hit the unlock button again if they go off. This is a safety issue! I have to be within 10 ft of the car to turn the lights on. My car is about 30 to 40 feet from my door! My last Kona kept the lights on. Another safety issue. I can’t lock the door by the fob when I’m inside the car. It won’t allow it till the car is in drive. My other vehicles could. Ask any women.. if you feel unsafe or fell like someone is following you, would you want to be able to lock the doors the sec your in the seat to prevent someone from getting in? Who do you think buys these cars… check your buyer profiles and see how many women purchase these cars. Interior dash wont light up until the door is closed… that was a bad idea. The dash display always changes viewing menu every few days. I set it to have the vehicle surround showing so when I drive I can use it. But every few days it resets back to the mileage menu read out. What for? I don’t use that on a day to day! The seat backs are misshaped and curve in the wrong part of my back causing an uncomfortable drive to and from home every day. Headlight are so bright that I get high beamed when driving at night by 80% of drivers coming towards me. The big rigs do it 95% even if there is a median area between us. The headlights on normal have this weird distracting dip in the light beam just at the center. It looks like a v shape made by the beam of light. It’s distracting and creates a dark spot in my field of view at night. Auto high beam always on when I turn on the high beams causing more distractions at night! The auto high beam won’t read the big rigs till the sensor sees their headlights. If I lived in a flat no hills area that would be fine.. but there are huge hills out here… all over! So my lights blind big trucks even more because the driver sits higher then his headlight and with auto high beam my high beams won’t turn off till their headlights clear the hills. So now I just hold the headlight switch towards me for high beams while I drive and let go of it when I see someone coming but I still get high beamed because the normal lights are so bright. I have buyers remorse big time with this Kona. The fob key is horrible! The all white inside and out is horrible, the issues with the display are annoying and horrible. The dealer saying he would get me car seat covers knowing I didn’t want a white interior and then never doing it, is horrible, the scratch he said the would fix and never is did…. So now I’m stuck with an all white car that I didn’t want but got talked into with the promise of car seat covers, that has scratches, electronic issues, and key fob issues. I should have kept my last vehicle or just went to another dealer when I said no to this one the first time. Should have kept my Chevy! Which they sold within a day while this one had been on their lot for months.. now I know why. I won’t be buying another Kona going back to Chevy and staying! My last Kona was the reason I wanted to try a new one. I had it before my Chevy. I loved that Kona but this one from the dealer experience to the multiple problems it has when it’s brand new off the lot has burned me. I will be recommending to pass on the 2025 Kona to anyone looking at it and buy something else somewhere else!
