This GV80 needed a software update since day one. Radio goes on and off at will, rear hatch remote button sometimes works

2025 GV80 Review

Overall, owning my 2025 GV80 has been an enjoyable experience. Outside of an initial issue with a dead battery after 3 days of ownership and a very unpleasant dealership experience for routine service, I have little to complain about regarding the vehicle.

Luxury SUV with beautiful interior design

I think the interior design is what shines about this vehicle. The selection of colors and details sets it apart from the conventional luxury brands. The ride quality is very good especially in the highways; interior noise is very minimal. The gripe I have is that the check engine light came on after a few hundred miles from when I purchased the vehicle new. I had to bring the vehicle back and had to leave it at the dealership service center for several days for them to address the engine warning/issue. Also paid high price for Genesis scents and found that scent diffuser is not working.

Enjoying the ride

Love so much. Small additions would be great. Passenger seat memory, dash cam. Seats not comfortable especially long rides. Feels like a rod in the passenger seat.

I expected a bit better

The BMW and Audi coupe have a more comfortable ride than the GV80 coupe, but I am loyal to the Hyundai/Genesis brand. When I trade in for a 2028 iI will be more careful with my selection. Also, I have a scratch on the windshield (less than 2000 miles), service would not cover it. Said essentially operator error. Things like this stick with a customer.

Beautiful Car with some Bugs

Overall, this is a car that delivers on a great luxury feel, with some major areas for improvement still. The interior trim feels and looks amazing with premium materials and construction. The technology and "nice-to-have" luxury features is where I am less than satisfied. CarPlay has been fairly buggy. The Doors don't always open consistently with touch, the self-park feature is completely useless. The auto-open feature on the trunk only works when I don't want it to (typically when I'm walking by rather than when standing there with my arms full). The car also isn't great at handling bumps in the road that are wider in nature (vs a pothole) - the whole car almost rolls completely.

The car I wish I had bought years ago!

After numerous BMW's and Mercedes over the past 40 plus years I finally got completely disillusioned with ridiculous maintenance bills and limited warranties. So I decided to try something different. And is my Genesis GV80 ever different! Every extra I ever purchased on previous vehicles was standard on the GV80. And they all work without me attending evening classes to be taught how to use them. I seriously believe that the design team at Genesis sat down and took all the top features from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc. and put them into their cars. I can't find anything I want that's not already equipped. The car drives so smoothly you sometimes wonder if it's "gone electric" on you. This is the magic carpet of automobiles with the added control and refinement you expect from a high end drive. I've struggled to find something to criticize which, if you knew me, you would understand to be a highly unusual situation. We're so impressed my wife is now planning to leave her beloved Cadillac and switch to a GV70. I would test drive one before you buy your next luxury SUV. You will be amazed when you realize at how much you've been paying for a marque which no longer merits the high price tag with accompanying massive depreciation and ridiculous maintenance costs.

Recently purchased a GV80

Everything I expected and more especially regarding how quiet and comfortable the ride is. As an older driver I also really appreciate all the visual and audio driving safety features/warnings. Overall, very pleased with my new 2025 GV80.

Great car, but a few quirks

Overall, excellent value and very pleased with my GV80. It's almost at the level of some of the European vehicles that it competes with, and a few software updates can probably get it there. The biggest issue is the memory seat positions. My wife and I both drive the car. But even though we have our own key fobs, they are not and cannot be linked to our driver profiles. This means that the seating position and driver profile loaded when the car is started are those of the last driver. So, when I get in the car after my wife drives it, I turn it on and the seat starts squishing my against the steering wheel. I have to race to change the profile as quickly then press the "1" memory button. It's awkward, an obvious oversight, and a significant issue. Separately, the climate controls sometimes seem a bit off. What is 69F in real life is not what the GV80 considers 69F, so the thermometer calibration is off by a couple of 1-3 degrees. Also, the Auto setting has three different fan speeds, which isn't intuitive. Auto should mean "use whatever fan speed is needed to maintain temp." Often, the A/C is blasting and unclear why. It's often feels far too cold for the 69F that I normally set. And, the fan speed and noise from the A/C seems seem to vary too much with what is going on in the engine, and the A/C is generally too loud.
