Stunning performance with cocooned plush Interiors

My GV70 is exceptionally reliable in any road and weather condition; I love the numerous safety features, the ride is a smooth as possible and the interiors are an absolutely bargain given the many luxury features. I haven't found any other car that could compete with my GV70 at this price point.

Fun but flawed

The car is a beauty, but the 2023 Sports Prestige came with those mesh seats that fortunately are gone. The seat itself is a big tight and I'm 6 ft. 1 in. and less than 200 lbs. Ours is a 2.5 and there's considerable turbo lag at time. The infotainment system can be flighty particularly after an update when interfaced with CarPlay. I despise the 21 inch wheels in the Northeast. To many rough roads and potholes. The rims often get scraped and I lost a tire in a pothole. I've seen this complaint often online. All that being said, it's a fun car to drive, handles well, has some pep and can be quiet on a smooth road. The sound system (Lexicon) is mediocre and I'm aware that it now had a different one. Most likely I will buy out the lease as the prices have gone up so much and I also want to see what the 2027 looks like. I haven't had the reliability issues that others have had, but I am bracing myself. I leased the car from a multibrand dealer and the service was awful. Fortunately a dedicated dealer opened 15 minutes away and it's a totally different, positive experience.

No issues with the car whatsoever!

The only issue I have is with the maker because people in America are not knowledgeable enough about the vehicles to work on them and the parts are not easily accessible if you’re in an accident. It took two months to get a rear view mirror! That is why I will never purchase another one.

The near perfect car

I had my Genesis for 3 years now and I love it the same as the first day I got it. Only downfall is the Infotainment Display, it sometimes just turns off randomly or when I start my car, my Infotainment Display doesn't come on at all sometimes ( its not often but it does happen from time to time) and more room in the back seats ( width) i have twin toddlers and 10 year old, and my 10 year old feels squished between the carseats, so more room as far as more room on the seats themselves would be nice. 3 kids should be able to seat comfortably in 1 row. I would like people with twins or more to be considered. But other than that, the performance, the seating is very comfortable, connected services is good. One thing I wish this car had for how much it cost ( which I know many cars dont) is the ability for the passenger and kids in the back seat to watch TV with ear plugs while the car is in motion. Side note: Dont change the look of the Genesis from the front, the grill is everything. The front of the car is what make ppl turn their heads. However, the back can use some upgrading.

The amount of luxury features installed in this car surpasses most cars at this price. In addition to the heated leather seats in both front and rear, I love having air cold seats on those really hot summer days. I love the mirrors that fold in when I turn off the car. And I love the zip when I hit the gas and need to accelerate to change lanes or merge.

Great car - comfortable with adequate acceleration. Electrical/computer gremlins - seat memory doesn't keep position. Maintenance minder can be reset, but reverts to "service due".

Mainly, climate controls, outside cameras, and oil change reminders.

1. My 2013 Ford Escape displayed the current outside temperature on the main screen for all passengers to view...very handy instead of constantly asking the driver what the reading on the dash is. 2. With ALL the outside cameras on the car showing everything, why don't you install a memory of some kind which would record the last minute of driving and what has occurred? If the car were in an accident, freeze that memory to viewing on a flash drive. Very helpful in an accident and would show who is at fault. 3. Climate controls are difficult to change as they are too sensitive, and due to the constant motion of the car, it's difficult to touch the correct button when you are attempting to make adjustments. 4. The center storage bin is next to impossible to reach into, as your elbow keeps hitting the raised lid...a side opening top would be better/easier. 5. It would be nice if you redesigned the doors so a person could rest their arm/elbow on the sill while riding in the vehicle. They are too sloped right now. 6. Poor design on the automatic dehumidifier in the car. On cold mornings, the AC kicks on to dehumidify the car (not needed) and makes the car even colder inside. 7. Storage webbing on the back of the front seats looks cheap. Leather or vinyl pouches look much more finished and would go along with the otherwise high quality of the interior finishing. 8. We own TWO of these GV70's which are parked in a very tight garage. Trying to get around them is difficult and door are constantly locking/unlocking and mirrors are flying in and out. There must be a solution for walking next to the car and not having it react when you accidently rub against the door handle. 9. In order for the rear seat passengers to have ANY leg room, the front occupants must move their seats almost all the way forward making the available room very tight. 10. Sometimes it hesitates when accelerating from slow speeds as it tries to find which gear it wants, with 8 to chose from. 11. A rock hit one of my two radiators causing it to lose all fluid. Car drove in 'limp' mode. I had no idea what was wrong as there were not alarms or warning messages on the dash or I would not have kept driving it. The dealer in San Diego (Only dealer in 100 mile radius) could not get the car in for a repair/diagnosis for 4 weeks! I drove it to Palm Springs who got me in within 2 days. I did not even know the car had 2 radiators and I had to replace the water pump. Expensive rock with nothing to protect the lower radiator. Not happy. 12. Required oil change intervals are all screwed up. Reminders were factory set for every 5,000 miles. But I guess Genesis decided that was too expensive, providing regular pre-paid oil changes until 36,000 miles or 3 years. So they stretched the interval out to 8,000 miles so they wouldn't be responsible for changing the oil so often at their expense. But getting the reminders constantly on the screen and dash is annoying.

Genesis, new brand and moving (slowly) in the right direction

I purchased my GV70 Prestige Sport after narrowing my prospects down the Porsche Macan, Audi SQ5, and BMW X3 M40i. The other vehicles drove/handled better but couldn't touch the interior design, comfort, and materials. I saved a little bit of money picking the GV70 over the other and decided ultimately to give the brand a try, especially, since the warranty claims were SIGNIFICANTLY better. After only a few months of ownership, the wheel lug nuts and brake caliper hardware had significant rusting and pitting. A claim was filed and it took over a year to get replacements. Nothing was mechanically wrong, but I had a $70K vehicle that looked like it was years old. Chrome window trim was flaking and replaced. Clearcoat on the wheels was flaking off. These were replaced a lot sooner but with the lack of dealerships, it's an inconvenience to be constantly driving back and forth for repairs. I've taken my vehicle to 3 dealerships, and none of them offer what I was "sold on" with valet vehicle pickup and drop off. Dealerships are still building their Genesis facilities and the whole buying and maintenance experience is what I'm assuming its like at a cheaper Hyundai dealership. I understand the vehicle has a cell application for remote start and to see the status of the vehicle, but in the morning I'm rushing and just want to start my car with the key fob remote start. With ALL previous vehicles, the car would beep to let you know the signal was received and the headlights would come on so you can look out the window and see your car running. The GV70 does none of this. There is no visual indicator your vehicle is running. I've walked outside on numerous occasions to find was never running after using the fob. The auto start stop is laggy as well, and I've had a few near miss accidents because of it. I normally remember to manually shut it off, but there are times I forget and after sitting at a stop sign for awhile will try to pull out in a quick available space and the vehicle response sucks and I have to jam the brakes on and avoid an accident. The hood vibrates on the highway at certain speeds. These are my biggest gripes. Smaller ones is I want the same options as available in other countries; red calipers, dash cams, augmented GPS, etc. The GV80 Coupe is on my "radar" but I probably won't be purchasing one and probably going with another brand until there's more dealerships and better a experience.
