Dishonest Service Team
I bought my 2023 Hyundai Elantra there almost 3 months ago. My first car. Within the first month I noticed it kept jerking a little bit when going slower, or slowing down and backing up. Two weeks later the battery died. I had the battery replaced and the car ran for a day pretty smoothly, then started doing the jerking again and stalling. I had my parents drive it just to make sure it wasn’t just me since I’m a learning driver. My mom confirmed that something is not right and send it to the dealership to find out why it’s doing it. The service team originally told me it will take three days to diagnose it. I kept checking in. They still couldn’t find why it was stalling, then, two weeks later they called me and said the battery is dead and there’s contaminated gas and the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I barely drove this car due to it having an issue and I fly a lot due to my career. My mother went over the paperwork and showed me the lemon law clause that the car was bought back by the manufacturer due to the previous owner noting the car kept stalling or hesitating when going slow and driving in reverse. It is noted that the non-conformity needs to be repaired. I truly don’t think this dealership did not correct the nonconformity and sold the car to me and now trying to pass it off as bad gas. The car is under 20K miles and I only drove about 70 miles since purchase on 4/30/26 and it is 7/24/26 as I write this review. I think this dealership took advantage of me since I’m 18 years old. I spoke to the general manager. He said something doesn’t sound right he’ll check with the service team and it’s practically a new car. At first he couldn’t even find that I bought the car. He called me back and said he found my information and the service team says it’s bad gas and file a complaint with Quiktrip Gas Station and they should pay for the $3500 repair for a new fuel pump. I returned the new battery I purchase to the auto store that recommended the battery to me. They said that the battery wasn’t dead and possibly too small for the car and refunded my money. Something does not sound right. The service team at the dealership told me the battery was dead . The general manager of the dealership didn’t even try to offer any assistance/adjustment or anything and quickly ended the call with me. I was going to use my first car to take my drivers license test and I couldn’t even do that because the car issue and I think it’s a lemon that they’re trying to pass off on me.
