Untrustworthy Dealership that Doesn't Care about Customer Safety
I do not recommend purchasing a car from Pohanka Hyundai at the Capital Heights location (or hyundai period at this point!), especially if it’s a used vehicle. I bought a “certified used vehicle” that was supposedly inspected thoroughly, but it has had nothing but problems since I purchased it in February. The dealership has continuously given me the runaround regarding any issues I’ve raised.

I even had to take my car to another dealership for service due to the engine light constantly coming on, yet that issue remains unresolved. It seems that Hyundai as a whole prioritizes profit over customer safety. They are quick to charge for minor repairs but overlook major, potentially life-threatening issues.

My experience with Ezekiel ("Service advisor") and the service team was frustrating. Despite having his contact number, I couldn’t reach him by call or text. When I managed to connect with the service department, I was repeatedly told he would return my call, but he never did over four days.

When I finally received a call saying my car was ready, I was not informed about the specific services performed. Upon picking it up, I asked for details and was told to read the report, but Ezekiel couldn’t answer my questions and merely stated that “the best technician” had worked on my car.

After leaving the dealership, my car continued to shake and showed the same issues I initially reported. I am extremely disappointed and concerned for my safety, as it seems my concerns were not taken seriously. This is my second experience with a Hyundai dealership for Powertrain-related service, and it has been equally unsatisfactory. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Oil change today
It took 20 mins to get checked in. All these advisors sitting around doing nothing. Why are customers waiting outside for someone to check their vehicles in? Then I finally get someone and it's 2 hours for an oil change. Horrible service! I will not be back here.

Slimy and sleazy
Honestly, the whole shopping experience was great and our sales guy was excellent. We called about a model we wanted and they confirmed it was in stock. I showed up in the evening and they worked with us up to an hour after closing just to finish up paperwork and ensure we had the car ready to drive off the lot that day.

Unfortunately that's where the positive experience ends. We repeatedly told them we wanted to put $0 down on a lease. They confirmed that we wouldn't be putting any money down, just paying the taxes and fees that come with a lease. They mentioned that the place we're from has "some funny and unusual fees" that are rolled into the due-at-signing. We confirmed we understood. Once it came to signing pen to paper, we asked to confirm that there was no down-payment, that this was all DAS, and they confirmed such. The paperwork they showed us was deliberately obfuscated and split up into multiple itemization lists across multiple stacks of paper in a seemingly random fashion. In our haste, and complete inexperience when it comes to leasing, we didn't realize that we were paying thousands down in reduced capital cost because it was mixed into the overall rebate. We thought we were just paying high taxes and fees (because we live in an expensive jurisdiction). Repeatedly they confirmed to us we wouldn't be putting money down and they blatantly lied to us.

To add insult to injury, a credit card that we used at this location (and *only* at this location) had its number lifted and added to someone's Apple Wallet where they proceeded to fraudulently use it for lunch. We caught it in time but unfortunately had to waste an entire day talking to banks, creditors, and the woefully inept PG County police to deal with it, and now we have to wait for a new card.

And to think this location is better than the College Park Hyundai. Go anywhere else.

Service Department
I purchased a light bulb for one of my head lamps. I wanted the service department to put the light bulb in for me. They said that the bumper would have to be removed to do it and they would charge me $80. That's a rip off and not true about the bumper. I installed the light bulb myself in 10 minutes. I opened the hood of my car and Googled what to do. I will never take my car there again and advise anyone the same.

Jordan maintained a professional presence all the time and showing us a card and trucks which made it a difficult task for us to pick but his patience and understanding made it easier for us so ask my my thank you goes out to him
We appreciate Jordan's time and attention as we purchase our 2023 Santa Fe his assistance was greatly needed and his professionalism was respectfully thankful I will pass my experiences on to others but as I say today thank you Jordan for your help and up in the purchase of our new car

Back service all around!!
Service Beware! This is a long post but needs be be read. This location will try and screw a women over. I took my car on a Wednesday to the Ritchie Marlboro location and I wanted an oil change and them to complete the campaign where they spray the undercarriage of my car to prevent rust. After being there 2 hours, the service writer called me and said my front brakes were "metal on metal", I asked how much for that and he said $680.73. Then he said "and your rear brakes are metal on metal", I asked how much was that, he said $671.33. Then he said my valve cover gasket had a slight leak...that would be $570.00, he then recommended my spark plugs be changed, another $270. I said that I came in for an oil change and the undercarriage be down and my car needs $2500 worth of work? I told him that I didn't have that kind of money and he said they would be happy to finance me. I then asked to see my brake pads, the service writer took me back to the garage where the mechanic didn't speak English so the service writer had to translate for me. I asked to see the brake pads and I had to wait for the tech to take off my tire, so to me, if I needed brake pads, shouldn't my tires already be off? So the tech took off my right rear tire and there was clearly enough brake pad on there and I didn't need new ones. I asked the service writer about the front ones and he said that I didn't need them after all. So I looked at him and told him I would not be back and did they do the campaign yet and he said no and that it would be another hour for that. I went to the lobby to wait. When it was all done, and 3 hours later, I was charged $76.00 for the oil change. After all that, for some reason I had a bad feeling the next day (Thursday) and checked my oil dipstick, the oil was black. I made an appointment at another dealership the very next day and asked to be there with my car while it was looked over. Long story short, the oil was never changed, my brake pads were practically new and the tech never took the spare tire out from underneath my car to properly spray it. I took videos and pictures. I left a bad review on their survey that Friday night and then went to see the service manager that following Monday. I showed him the videos and pictures to prove my side and all the service manager could say is that they were sorry and refunded me the charge for the oil change. The service manager did say that they needed to complete the spraying of the undercarriage since we later found out that Hyundai already approved the work and paid the dealership even though it was not done correctly. I have since filed a complaint with Hyundai.com which after voicing my issues and complaints to a case worker, only offered me a $80.00 gift card. I am totally disgusted with how I have been treated through out this whole ordeal. I plan on leaving this story on every outlet and social media that I can. BEWARE! BEWARE! I personally felt like they were out to screw me over because I was a women and wouldn't know any better. I have asked for someone to call me and no one has.

THE BEST SERVICE EVER!!! Made good on their PROMISES. TRUE TO WORD
Today I was able to get a brand new car 2024 Hyundai Elantra to be exact! Jordan & Francis was a great help with purchasing a new vehicle today! I was able to leave off the lot with a car I wanted. Both Jordan and Francis service and communication was beyond satisfactory. Talk about going above & beyond they did just that. I look forward to working with them in the near future with my brand new car. If raises come soon Jordan & Francis for sure need one. Best experience today!

Caution Lack of Customer Care
Sadly, my experiences with Pohanka Hyundai of Capital Heights has always been far from satisfactory. It's very poor. I have had multiple engine issues with my vehicle on top of a transmission replacement since purchasing it used in 2016. To make matters much more difficult, the lack of customer service provided by this dealership is terrible. My interactions with the service center staff has always felt like I was being brushed off and not taken seriously.

My engine issues continue to persist despite bringing my car in for repairs multiple times. This dealership is unable to provide a lasting solutions but will be sure to have you pay ridiculous labor fees and leave you with the inconvenience of not having transportation. I has told that I could be added to a loaner car waitlist with 20 people ahead of me. This has been extremely frustrating and I am highly dissatisfied with the service. The staff members were unresponsive and lacked empathy for my situation. I have several emails sent to the director and VP of the center. The lack of communication and follow-up left me feeling like my business was not valued.

I would caution anyone considering this dealership for their vehicle needs to carefully consider their options and think twice before choosing Pohanka Hyundai of Capital Heights.
