Emergency alternator replacement for 35' foot long motor home
We called Olympic Truck Service from nearby I5 that we were losing power and could only make 35 mph in our motor home. Since we have a Freightliner chassis, we called Freightliner first and they said it might be 2 to 3 weeks before they could get to us to have a look. So glad to hear that Olympic might be able to have a look in the next day or two. Thus we limped into their shop late in the afternoon. Everyone was very busy that day/evening, but the shop foreman managed to come out the next morning and determined that the alternator had failed on our 2004 Winnebago Horizon. A direct replacement was no longer available (and we didn't want to wait to have the alternator rebuilt), but he had another stock alternator that would work if the mounting bracket were heavily ground down. This he did during the first shift of the day. But this momentous event also cratered the two engine batteries that were at least 7 years old. However, Olympic had two replacement batteries in stock of the correct size and the crew on the second shift completed that installation by 9 pm! We were so glad to have the emergency repair fixed competently and so quickly, given the circumstances. This allowed us to continue our trip to south to CA, AZ, NV and UT with only a small interruption and fulfilled the goals of our trip.
