Reasonably reliable car.
I picked this car up dirt cheap as a total and it had 120,000 miles on it. As a southern car I felt it was worth fixing up. Since then I’ve put 70,000+ miles on it. It has never stranded me or broke down while driving. The 4-cylinder still doesn’t burn oil and the Transmission still shifts as it should. The only major repairs have been front struts at 160,000, tie rod ends and exhaust parts. As of this writing the car still has the original fuel pump and alternator. Replacing the timing belt and water pump is a little tricky though due to the configuration and if you have it done will cost between $600 and $900. But most cars these days are like that. My only pet peeve is this vehicle has two catalytic converters and the computer is constantly throwing misfire codes even when the engine runs perfectly. Replaced oxygen sensors but to no avail. The engine light still comes on and turns off. But I have been driving it that way for tens of thousands of miles and doesn’t seem to affect performance. In short, I’ll drive it till it drops dead.
