Elementary
I bought my Element new in Alaska. I test drove it in March, while there was still ample snow around so I could evaluate it. I could not get it to spin out. it maintained its grip on the road no matter what I did with it. (scared the hell out of the salesman) I bought a five speed, as a stick is the only way to go. ( if you drive an automatic, you are a passenger, not a driver) I have put just under two hundred thousand miles on it so far and have never had a mechanical problem with it until the brake caliper rusted shut after 12 years. I have only had to change the oil, rotate tires, replace the battery, and adjust the valves. it has never broken down, leaving me stranded. After 12 years, I have only invested in 4 sets of tires, 3 sets of brake shoes, 3 batteries, 3 windshields, 6 air filters,12 sets of windshield wipers, and 1 rear wiper.
it is, by far, the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.
