I won’t be back
I bought a 2021 Kona from Route 1 Hyundai in October 2023. 21 thousand miles on it 14 months and 8000 miles later, it needed a new battery, four new tires, and two filters that I was told should have been changed at 15,000 miles. $1300. Not expected nor appreciated.

Poor customer service
The dealership reached out to me from a search I was doing online from Consumer’s Report. I called to ask if they had a white Sonata hybrid on the lot and they assured me they did. When I got there it “ had been sold”. I met sales reps Jocelyn and Mike and they went back and forth with an offer. They would not take my 2007 Nissan Maxima as a trade in and suggested I sell it myself. I left a $500 deposit via credit card but went to another dealership and secured a deal there. I called Jocelyn immediately to get my deposit back. To date, 27 days later my account has not been reimbursed after repeated daily calls. I would beware of this dealership for the lousy customer service!

Dealership surprised us with an added $ 400 charge for sales tax on license plates when picking them up
Financed a new Santa Fe in November with 30 day temporary plates (NY). The 30 days had expired. My wife called numerous times about the plates. Was told plates never came in. Then told plates were mailed out. Then told plates were at dealership and could pick them up. No one at dealership told us before we arrived that they were going to surprise us with a $400 sales tax charge. Everyone in the place scattered like we had Covid, and they let the finance manager give us the bad news. This after been given the runaround for a month and a half. Got handed an extra bill that we were never told about and a Sorry. Smh

My first new electric car!
I just got my first electric car yesterday at Route one Hyndai thanks to Tierron (Sales Rep)and Igli!(Manager) I really love my new Ionic 6 SEL AWD. It drives like a dream.
First, I would like to say that I think I got the best deal on my new car after shopping around in PA, NJ, NY and Maryland. I knew what type of car I wanted but I wanted to be sure I was getting the best deal. I live in PA but it was no trouble getting the car in NJ and I was given temporary plates to drive it. My official plate will be sent overnight to my home. Tierron walked my husband and I through the specific technology for the Ionic 6 and it is an amazing car. Tierron was very pleasant and professional and he gave me his direct number to call him with any issues we would have with the car. He was so helpful and personable.
If you are looking to get a new car or any electric car check out the prices at Route One Hyndai before buying a car. I spoke initially to Igli (Manager)over the phone and did the buying process with Tierron at Route One Hyndai.
Check out Route One Hyndai if you are looking for a new car or an electric car but not sure what you want. They will help you figure it out and give you a great deal while you'r e at it!
My last piece of advice is to go buy the car during the week as the finance person was very busy with many sales so that delayed the process-Otherwise, everything else went smoothly.

No one was working
I had a service appointment and when I showed up there were 6 cars ahead of me. The line wasn’t moving so I went inside to find out what the hold up was. The entire staff - sales and service - were in a meeting. There wasn’t a single person working except the receptionist. How can you do business like that?! I waited 30 minutes after my scheduled time and they were still in the meeting and I had 6 cars ahead of me so I left and won’t be returning.

Absolutely terrible service
Absolutely terrible service. I brought in my car a week and a half ago to get a number of items serviced. There was a code P2122 and my car kept on stalling and would not pass inspection. I brought my car in for fixing in the documentation says they fixed the P2122 air and sold me a new battery. Well, not more than two weeks later the P2122 code is still happening and my car cannot accelerate. Plus my car still will not turn over without getting a jumpstart. So what was the point of me getting a new battery since that doesn’t seem to be the problem? Did anybody think I may need a new alternator or is there something wrong with my starter? I have the warranty that should cover this but at this point do I bring my car back to a place that can’t service it correctly in the first place? and the best part of this is that I need my car for November 1 and I’m surely going to hear some excuse tomorrow morning when I call up to try to get my car fixed that they can’t do it in a certain amount of time or if they could, they can’t get me a loaner car. So I spent a total of $955 and nothing was fixed. Needless say I’m a bit furious. I will call them up in the morning and see what they have to say and report back to you what they plan on doing to fix this issue.

Worst service experience ever
Came at 12 noon for service appointment accompanied by a ride to get back to my office. Technician told me it'll be less than an hour if I forgo the car wash, so I decided to just wait and let my ride go, rather than having him drive back and forth. That was at 12:10...I got my car at 3pm. Three hours for an oil change that was promissed to be done in less than an hour.??

Bad service
Wednesday my car wouldn’t start back up, I was able to push it into a private shop right up the road. They tell me the starter is bad. Friday a gentlemen named Don the service director gave me a call and I explained what had happened exactly with the starter and how it essentially burnt out and started smoking and actually caught fire . He was highly concerned, suggested I get it to them right away, made it seem like the motor was bad since open recall on it. Had me thinking ok great I’ll get this all covered under the 10/100k warranty and I assured him I have the extended bumper to bumper coverage. I get it towed to South Brunswick Hyundai. It’s even been at this shop for a button issue inside the vehicle and was covered from the bumper to bumper warranty, pretty obvious they should know at this point. Friday evening I get a call from John the service advisor telling me best he can do is maybe Tuesday morning or even Wednesday to get it looked at and start the process for motor inspection and possible replacement just like his superior Don told me. All this time I kept mentioning I need a loaner which I kept getting the we don’t have any right now but you are top of the list. Understandable since I was showing up before requesting a loaner prior. The next morning I call Don and mentioned what his advisor tells me. He mentioned to me it’s a holiday weekend and I’m at the top of his list for a loaner and it’s much easier to work something out on a loaner when Hyundai is notified it’s all under a warranty related repair. Tuesday afternoon around 12:15pm I get a call from John saying hey it’s the starter it’s $900 you don’t have coverage. I explain in fact I do, I even do all of the leg work and get my paperwork and contact numbers for the warranty coverage. I relay it all along to his personal phone he said to text or call. Great fantastic I’m thinking. Unfortunately getting a hold of Don and John is a very arduous task. The rest of the day I get no call back from John after getting all of the proper material to him. Wednesday morning 8:30 I call again, John actually answered the phone. Tells me he reached out to the warranty people and he’ll call me back after touching base with them again at 9am. 12:15 I call him back since he hasn’t called me. No answer. I call Don his boss, no answer. 12:30 I get a call back from John saying hey it’s covered give me 2-3 hours by end of day it’ll be done. I stress the loaner car issue to John, I get told “we don’t really do loaner cars for this but you can go to enterprise and rent a car and submit a claim through Hyundai for reimbursement”. Great all this time I was lied to. 3:30 I reach back out no answer and was told John is busy I leave a urgent message for him to call me back. 4pm I get a call from John and I ask what’s the reality on my car actually being done like promised, his response was “your car has been done, I thought I told you”. Clearly lack of communication, let alone basic customer service is a major issue with this service department. 4 days for a vehicle that was explained to have caught fire from a potential major motor failure by staff themselves at this location. I pick my car up that evening and that $900 price tag ended up being only $600 after realizing it was covered under warranty. Clear as day at this point I was being ripped off. Never again will I use this dealer or even suggest it. After contacting my parent dealer where the vehicle was purchased they were shocked about all of this and even offered to getting it towed to them for free.
