Service Center Scam & Deceit!!!!!
For the last three months my front passenger door fails to open from the outside. I can open it from the inside just fine.

I finally decided to get it taken care of and did a seven minute Google search to find that this is a common issue with the Hyundai Elantras 2017 - 2021. Basically a manufacturing defect but no public recalls announced.

Supposedly these door lock actuators can be replaced for free up to 10 years after the date of purchase of your Elantra. Mine's is a 2017 but I purchased it in 2019.

I called Rick Case in Duluth and made them aware that my front passenger door fails to open from the outside and made arrangements to bring it in for repair.

Here's where things get criminal. I get call about 4-5 hours after dropping it off saying that the door lock actuator has to be replaced. The total price for that is $589.59!

That does NOT include the $242 for a so called 'diagnotic'. WFT!!!!

How much diagnosing has to be done when I found the issue after 7-8 minutes doing an internet search?????

So I refused to pay for the dealership to charge me for a manufacturing defect! Screw that. I told them I will be there to pick up my car and I can live with the problem since I'm single and barely have passengers in my car.

So I go to pick it up and they slap me with the $242 diagnostic charge and my door still won't open from the outside. Now here's the punchline...

I call my local independent mechanic and ask him or a quote to replace the door lock actuator on my front passenger door. He hangs up. He calls to get a price on that part then calls back and says it will be total charge, including labor of $345!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm fuk!ng done! That service center will never see me again. But I will reach out to the BBB regarding how a dealership can OVER charge customers for a known manufacturing issue with their cars.

Again....scam, deceit, deception, criminal. Very disappointed but this is the world we live in today.

Had my Engine replaced on a recall. After keeping it for 3 month After 2 weeks I called because my car was shaking and the engine light was on.I brought it in and it sit there all day from a 9:30am appt. When I called they hadn't looked at it. Never tried to give me any explanation why they never got to it. Scheduled again they told me they didn't have it on the schedule. My experience to get this problem fix or just tell me what is wrong. . Has really made me unhappy. What and who do you talk to. So Rick case of Duluth I would never recommend for service. Even though the service manager tries to give good service. It the mechanic and that department is the problem.

**Total Scam! Worst Dealership Ever – Stay Away!**
This dealership is nothing but a scam! They’ll tell you whatever lies they can just to get you to sign the papers. I was given completely false information about the car’s warranty, and they made promises they had no intention of keeping. Everything they said during the sale was misleading or just outright false.

The worst part is the service. When you go back for any help, you're treated like dirt. Their customer service is abysmal—no one cares about your concerns, they dodge responsibility, and they just want to get rid of you. You’re left to deal with their broken promises on your own.

This place is dishonest, unprofessional, and downright shady. Whether you're looking for a new or used car, **I strongly advise you to stay far away from this dealership!** If you value your money and time, don’t fall for their lies. Avoid this place at all costs!

Stop using this dealership. Really, just stop.
My visit to Rick Case Hyundai in Duluth started positively, with the sales staff, particularly Vern, being friendly and helpful during the initial stages of the car buying process. However, the experience took a negative turn during the post-negotiation phase.

After agreeing on a price, I was asked to sign an arbitration agreement, which was presented as a standard practice across all dealerships and had been used for years. This raised my concerns, and upon further investigation, I found that this is not a universally adopted standard, which made me question the transparency of their sales practices.

Additionally, the finance department's approach to selling extended warranties was overly aggressive. Despite my clear refusal of the extended warranties on four separate occasions, the representative persisted, hindering the progress of finalizing the sale. This level of pressure left me with no option but to walk away from the deal.

Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend Rick Case Hyundai. While the initial interaction with the sales staff was positive, the subsequent lack of transparency and undue pressure in the finance department overshadowed the initial goodwill. Potential customers should be wary of these practices.

If zero stars was an option…
I bought a genesis gv80 prestige which began having transmission problems less than 60 day of ownership. The vehicle was in this dealers care for almost 2 and a half months while they figured out the problem which resulted in a new transmission - it’s on it’s way back for more problems the week we received it back.

And they even twisted the knife by sending our $90,000 lemon home to us covered in dust and dirt. Thanks Rick case for making me regret every penny of this awful experience.

There is no customer service here - no one at this dealer or manufacturer cares. The concierge service they offer is complete vapor - it simply doesn’t exist. They do not communicate anything - ever - you will need to beg them and the will make you feel like a problem regardless. The management does not care and will not help - don’t bother calling they don’t call back ever.

This bit about “treating every customer like a friend” is absolutely insulting and offensive in context with how they treat people - none of my friends or acquaintances would ever treat people like this - rick case and genesis should be ashamed.

PS; before even thinking of buying anything from them come to the dealership on a Saturday morning and stand in the excruciatingly long line of unhappy owners and see for yourself if my experience resonates - I’m not alone. Run away from this dealer and do not buy a Hyundai or genesis.

Bad service dept. They botched a simple oil change then tried to not pay for the repair
They deserve no stars. In short, they botched a simple oil change and then tried to cheat so they would not have to pay for the fix.
Here is the story... I went in for a simple oil change under warranty. Two days later I realized that the oil filter was leaking. I took it back in for them to fix their error. They did the repair, but charged it against my warranty so that the next time I went in for my oil change I was told it had already been done. Rick Case had charge the Fix of their error against one my free oil changes.
After repeated calls and emails to set things right with no response I contacted Hyundai Corporate customer service and only then was my problem resolved.

The worst customer service I have experienced in my entire life.
On several occasions I have called, texted and chatted trying to resolve an issue or the other with no success at all. All they do across all platform is collect email and phone number and promise to get back to you. And that is all, no one ever gets back to you.
Its like as soon as you buy a car from this dealership, thats all. You are no longer on their record. Because even when you supply your phone number, they still ask for email, vehicle information and what not.
For several months, I tried to cancel my GAP insurance, all I ever get is the never-fulfilled promise to 'get back to you'. Even now, that I have confirmation that the GAP has been cancelled by the insurance company they partner with, I still cannot get across to the finance dept or accounts to find out what has happened to my refund/check.
I even called the general customer service number on their website and was redirected to 'Finance Dept' and there was no one to take the call.
If there was 0 star, that is what I would have given to this dealership.

Horrible Customer Service Experience
On June 2, 2022 I spent nearly $1100 dollars for various services on my 2012 Genesis sedan at Rick Case Hyundai in Duluth. I did all that in preparation for a lengthy road trip to Ottawa, Canada in late July – early August 2022. I purchased my car from Rick Case in 2012 and have always taken it there for any services required. But when I noticed a 4 inch scratch on my car after the June 2nd service behind the front wheel on the drivers side I immediately contacted the dealership’s service manager and my service advisor. Long story short after an investigation by the service manager she told me in writing that they would take care of the scratch. I never heard from her again in getting the repair scheduled and then I emailed the GM at the dealership who also never responded and totally ignored me. I just want you Rick Case and people to know that you have totally lost me as a customer and I will never have my car serviced at your dealership again. I have found another Hyundai dealership although further away that knows how to treat a customer. BTW, I was looking into and considering ordering/purchasing a 2022 G80 3.5T AWD Sport Perstige that I had already built via the Genesis "Build your Own" site as my retirement gift to myself. But instead I decided to buy a custom built BMW M440 xDrive Coupe that will be delivered in late October 2022. The moral of this story is that you should always treat loyal customers the way they deserve to be treated even when it’s on a 10-year-old car. See, I love my cars and take care of them to buy any service that the miles on them warrant, and Rick Case knows that if they look at my service record. But just like you always want to know when people are happy with your Rick Case services, I am putting you on blast to say this was horrible service experience. I know businesses are struggling in the post Covid-19 environment with providing good service and retaining employees. But there no excuse in one of you not calling back a loyal customer like me after agreeing to fix the problem. FYI, no need to call me back now, just use my comments in your next lessons learned meeting with staff.

Bought two Cars from Rick Case Hyundai
Rick Case Hyundai has amazing customer service.. they were able to help me choose the right cars for both me and my husband. From start to finish they made the process so smooth and as fast as possible.. Bongsu and a manager Steve Fricks were very attentive and helpful. I will buy my next vehicles there and highly recommend this dealership if you are looking for Professionalism when purchasing your car.

I do not appreciate any condescending attitude from the service manager. I have spent a lot of money at this dealership, and it is not my first nasty dealing with Tammy Baker. Her attitude has only gotten worse over the years.

Communication is extremely important when buying a car. This place was clearly a waste of my time. For 2 days I visited this place, and one was worse than the other. I don't recommend and I will be revisiting this dealership under no circumstances.

Do Not Use Rick Case
To have someone’s car for over eight weeks, not offer a loaner car, not give updates dealership extremely short staffed do not use them for service

We greatly apologize for the inconvience due to the down time waiting on parts from Hyundai Motor America. Once we recieved the parts the engine was replaced 100% under warranty within 3 days. If you rented a vehicle you can contact Hyundai Motor America to seek reimbursement at 1.800.633.5151. Unfortunately due to vehicle shortages, not staffing issues as we are fortunate to have staffing we do not have our normal rental fleet to accomodate the engine extension.
