ABS light on on 92 gmc safari van. They diagnosed the problem and said it would cost $1,400 to start and then would see after that if anything else was needed. I paid $1,000 for the van so it was clearly not worth fixing. They said I needed a master cylinder but had already put a new one on but did not fix the problem. I had new pads that I had purchased that were in the van. I offered to pay for the diagnostics but did not think they were going to charge me $140 for what they said took an hour. I asked them if they could just put the pads on so I wasn't just losing my money. They said no, it's all or nothing. There was no mention of any charge for the diagnostics and nothing was signed. I do feel they should get paid for there time but $140 was very high especially for such an old vehicle. The usual charge is up to $95 for most auto repair shops.
