Sales experience was good but don't trust prices on parts or service from the service department
I bought two consecutive vehicles from the Nissan dealership and the sales experience was pretty decent. My issue is with the service department. It's a dealer, so the labor rate is high, that's expected. However, I had multiple instances where parts or labor were ridiculously over-priced. For example, I was quoted $1600 for brake pads. I even called to confirm that it was just pads and not rotors too and they confirmed. I ended up going to an NTSB where it was less than $400. My second vehicle also had a recurring issue with a lower control arm bushing. The first time it failed, they charged us over $500 for the part plus labor. I did some research and found that price was high so I called the parts department and they quoted me around $370 for the part. I called the service department and they claimed it was some sort of error. They at least refunded the overcharge, but it only happened because I took the time to do the research. The second time it failed, they didn't even realize they had just replaced the same exact part. I had to tell them. At that point they did at least replace the control arm under warranty because it was just over the 12k mile part warranty. I asked if any other part of the suspension could be causing it to fail and they didn't attempt to find a root cause for the repeat failures when. They didn't do anything detrimental to the vehicle but I don't trust their pricing at all. I highly recommend taking the quote elsewhere and seeing if it's even reasonable.
