Summary: Vehicle showed no visible signs of leaks. Several mechanics at previous locations could not or did not want to investigate further. Upon arrival at Jimagua in January 2018 Vladamir located source. No visible external leaks were located & PCV valve was functioning properly which indicated internal issue. Stated engine needed rebuild.
Date Received: 02/01/2018
Final Cost: $1,397.
Jobs Performed: Timing kit, machine shop, water house (sic), piston rings, spark plugs, coolant, oil, labor.
Cont’ Summary: 02/02/2018 I noticed an alarming amount of oil underneath the vehicle. Vehicle was towed back to Jimagua and Vladamir was notified. Upon receipt Vladamir called to deny the leak. Informed me that the oil was old and that everything was fine. I picked up vehicle same day and returned home. The next day the leak persisted. I again towed vehicle back to Jimagua and drove to accompany it. Upon arrival the vehicle was lifted and the entire undercarriage of the transmission was soaked in oil. Vladamir became very nervous and could not control the shaking of his hands. I asked how he could’ve missed this the day prior. His reply was that it was non-existent at the time of review. He blamed the age of the car for the reason behind the leak. He also stated that it was possible the Rear Main Seal had been disturbed while he was assembling the rebuilt engine. He did not offer to repair the damage. The owner now got involved and began to blame me for the leak saying that the age of the car contributed to the issue and that they were not to blame. It was only after much pressure did they agree to perform the repair at a discounted rate.
Date of Completed Repair: 02/17/2018
Cost: $247.00 including labor
Cont’ Summary: 02/18/2018 Leak was still present although at a fraction of volum and now there appears to be a secondary leak coming from below the engine. Drove car back to Jimagua. Vladamir was informed. At this point he lost his temper and began to curse the car and scold himself for ever taking on the job. Denied there were leaks and even called into question my observation. He stated the oil was old from the recent work done on the car and that it would stop. I asked to have him walk me through his reasoning and to show me the location of rear main seal to understand how this could be old oil. He became irate, spoke incredibly fast, and tried to dismiss me. Undeterred, i continued to repeat back to him what he had said. He confirmed. I took car back home.
A few days later I returned. Leaks persisted at same pace. Owner got involved and dismissed the problems stating, “ All cars have leaks” and criticized the age of my vehicle. Attempted to intimidate me and embarrass me in front of other clientele. I continued undeterred to address the issue. Diagnosis was that there could be something loose that’s at the cause and that it would be reviewed and corrected if found.
The car remained in their care for almost two weeks. I checked on the vehicle a few days later and was told by Vladamir that there was no leak found and showed me the dip stick. The oil on dip stick was clear. The last time oil was replaced was 02/01. Oil was fresh. I pointed this out. He remained silent. Then again told me that both leaks was due to old oil working its way along the chassis pushed by air currents. He then told me he fixed the leaks. Cause: repairs needed to be tightened. Vehicle now emitted thick clouds of blue smoke. He denied it and said it was due to condensation. Owner got involved and began to yell at me saying the vehicle had come in that way. Attempted to speak to me disrespectfully the more I tried to stick to facts. The more i insisted the louder and more outrageous he behaved.
Aurelis (owner’s Wife) got involved and assured me that the vehicle would be repaired. Vehicle was kept.
Final diagnosis: Warped Cylinders . Could be cause for everything.
Cont’ Summary: vehicle was checked on in person sporadically and periodically. Progress continued to be delayed for reasons that didn’t make sense. Car was now emitting thick clouds of brown smoke. When owner was asked about cause I was told my questions were stupid and that he couldn’t take it anymore. Undeterred i continued to follow his logic which ended up nowhere with a cause that didn’t make sense. This angered him even more. Wife assured me work would be completed and that car would be fixed and i would not be charged for labor.
Date of Completion: 05/16/2018
Cost: $180.00
Jobs Perfomed: New Pistons, enlarging of cylinders, piston rings, machine shop, oil.
Result: Car runs perfectly. Massive colored Exhaust fumes eliminated.
Problems: transmission oil continues to leak at much reduced rate.
Solution: car was taken to new mechanic who found oil levels in transmission were dangerously low. 2 quarts of oil was needed.
These guys are scam artists who want quick jobs and fast money. It was exhausting dealing with them. The lies told, deceptive tactics used, and disrespect shown are a reflection of their ethical standards. Another less persistent person would’ve given up and paid someone else for the repairs. It is reprehensible and outrageous how i was treated.
NOTE: I witnessed a cars front drivers side bumper being smashed into a metal column inside the shop causing the number to dent and detach from the body. Immediately, it was announced that the car had come in that way.
