Back on 4/11/2019, I purchased what was supposed to be a new $65,490.00 GMC Sierra Denali that had 963 test driven miles on it. After I get the truck home and go to put my phone in the truck, I find another person’s name and phone number already in the truck. That raised a couple of unanswered questions, so I called the individual. He told me it had been a loaner to him for a few days. The bottom line is, the 963 miles weren’t supervised test-driven miles, they were loaner miles from various Jim Ellis GMC customers. Who knows how those people drove the vehicle! THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. If it would have been, I wouldn’t have purchased the truck. After speaking with my sales rep, he told me he would speak with management and get me into another vehicle. When I didn’t hear back from him the following day, I called him. He told me that management told him it was still considered a new vehicle and they wouldn’t do anything about it. That highly pissed me off, but I figured life was to short, so I move on. On the 28th day of ownership I discovered the left rear door had been repainted and was actually a little whiter and had less peal in the color than the original color. There was still tape on the back side of the door and bare metal showing in the top left corner where they sanded it too much and didn’t cover the area when they repainted the door. I then went and had a high-end body shop inspect the truck and they confirmed that the door had been repainted in the aftermarket, and even wrote me a letter describing the condition of the door alone with a repair quote. I then sent the sales manager, the sales rep and finance manager an email addressing the repaint issue alone with the body shops letter, quote and several photos. The repainted door should have been disclosed to me prior to my purchase, but again, it wasn’t. They didn’t even respond to my email. I then hired an attorney that wrote them a letter addressing the condition of the truck, and to sum it up, their comment was its still a new untitled vehicle and they would pay to have it repainted again. Keep in mind, this is supposed to be a damn new $65,490 truck!!! It’s also now day 49 and after multiple emails about not having the paperwork to get my tag, the truck is still sitting in my driveway without a tag., due to no paperwork!
Take my advice and drive a very more miles to find a quality GMC dealership, and stay the hell away from Jim Ellis GMC unless my transaction sound like the one you want to take home!
