My Experience
This is a review to share my experience with Homestead Hyundai, I don't want my review to sway you from either buying or not buying a car from them but if you do decide to buy from them make sure you check your car up and down before. I purchased a new 2024 Hyundai Sonata from them on 03/23/24 the experience was fine I was satisfied with how the sale went and what they offered on my trade and everything was a friendly experience. I took the car home, I checked the car but didn't see anything at that moment since it was getting dark and car I also purchased was a darker color. I woke up the next day to look at the car my wife and I found 2 dents above where the pillars of the car were. I called and spoke with someone who said it would be taken care of and to just bring the car by. When I got there I spoke with Alain one of the sales managers who told me to bring the car back that Wednesday and that they would take care of it. They did this even though the repair was not 100% it was still acceptable and I was satisfied. I then took my vehicle to be tinted and found a streak as you see pictured on my rear driver side window, I thought this streak was from washing or maybe from the tinting process so when I tried to clean it did not go away. I then assumed since I just got the vehicle tinted maybe the film they used was defective so naturally I went back to the tint shop. The shop was skeptical that it was the film and suggested that it maybe the window but agreed to replace the film to rule this possibility out. I watched them while they replaced the film and when the old film was removed there was nothing showing on the window. They cleaned the window properly and installed the new film and we found that this streak was still present on the window even with a new film. There was obviously a defect in the window but the defect only shows when there is a tint film on the window. I reached out to the dealer because at this point this was now the 3rd issue I was having with a new vehicle so they agreed to have a technician take a look at the issue. After this was done I received a phone call from Mario who stated that there was really not much they could they checked and didn't see anything that would be causing this the problem. They mentioned that there wasn't anything they could do to have the window covered under warranty and offered to replace it for around $498.00. I explained that this was a new vehicle and that I first had the 2 dents and now this issue with the window and asked if he could speak to the managers about this issue. He did and the best he could do was give me a discount bringing the window replacement to around $360.00. First off, I understand that this isn't an issue that effects the use of my rear window but it's an annoyance I see every day. I purchased this vehicle on 03/23/24 and was told this on 04/09/24 which is barely 3 weeks of owning this vehicle. When you buy a new vehicle you expect everything to go smoothly so that you can enjoy the vehicle you do not expect to have to go back to a dealer to fix 2 dents that should not have been there and a defective window that I now have to come out of pocket for just to have a normal looking tinted window. If I was the manager I would have said "Sir you have had 2 other issues with this car, this streak on you window really shouldn’t be there and its only been 3 weeks we will take care of this and hope to earn your repeat business" but this didn't happen… even after being told it should be taken care of. I will give them credit for knocking out those 2 dents but they only went 75% of the way in making this right. On average we change out cars every 3 years and I will tell you next time I will take my business to a different Hyundai dealer based on this experience. To me it's not about the money I can come out of pocket to fix this window but it's more about the principle and knowing that this customer has had 3 different issues with a "new" vehicle.
