In February, I purchased a new Tucson Hybrid SEL from Safford & Brown in Fairfax, Virginia, and since then I have been fairly satisfied with the vehicle..

When taking delivery of the vehicle, I received a number of documents, but no invoice. When I realized this document was missing, I requested it through Don Barker, the excellent sales associate we had been dealing with, but the financial manager was not responsive to the request and I never got this document.

In addition, a few weeks later, I received a letter from Safford Brown telling me that my application for vehicle financing had been rejected, It was all the more surprising as I paid the full price of the vehicle by check. I was puzzled since I maintain an excellent FICO score,so, I asked for the copy of the credit report and the reasons for rejection. I never received this document I am legally entitled to obtain, in spite of multiple requests.

I contacted Hyundai Customer Relations service to ask for help, and I even wrote to Mr. Muñoz, the CEO of Hyundai America, but never received an answer. I also wrote to Mr James Gramm, the President of the Safford Automotive group, the owner of the dealership but did not get any answer either. In conclusion, the customer service at Safford Hyundai of Fairfax is very poor and once you have paid for the vehicle, they no longer want to hear from you.

Back to my vehicle, I am in general satisfied with it, but I was disappointed to realize that the vehicle is not equipped with the Parking Distance Warning feature, I had assumed I would get this crucial feature on the SEL model. Last month I rented a Tucson Hybrid in France, and although this was a “base” vehicle, it included the feature with warning on the rear and on the front. It was hard to go back to my vehicle lacking this essential feature nowadays, and is available on all compteting models.
My inclination would be to assign a single star, but because our salesman Don Barker was professional and helpful, I raised it to two stars

no call back after 2 days, would leave a 0 if i could
put in a call to speak with a service agent. 2 days and i've had to call the dealership to speak with someone, not a service person but someone who transfers calls. this is not acceptable and just based on this experience will never buy a hyundai car ever again.

Everyone knew what was needed; the records of prior service were outstanding, and there was no pressure to have something done. Josh does an outstanding job in having your car serviced and talking to you about your needs.

Subpar Customer Service with some positives
Too long to explain but a formal complaint is in my head. I experienced certain aspects of customer service that are unacceptable. Yet I am thinking that I can simply stop taking my car there. Especially since it’s not the first time I’ve had a sour experience there. But I like my Elantra, it’s been the staff at Hyundai that made my experience a factor in the next vehicle I purchase.

Exceptional Customer Service
I have been taking my SantaFe to Fairfax Hyundai for nine years. The Service Staff is friendly, helpful and patient, explaining any and all questions I have regarding the service. The few issues I have encountered have been addressed and corrected in a professional and timely manner. I have never had a negative experience with them and will continue taking my vehicle to them as long as I own it.

Great service could do better with scheduling
No response to multiple attempts to schedule service. Luckily was able to walk in and get an oil change while I waited and was done in a reasonable time. Suggested additional needed service but no pushy sales.

The only issue is the continual lack of car washing each time I bring the car in. It’s either broken or unavailable.
