Beware of this place!!!
I heard of Excel Automotive Technology from a co-worker who indicated he had received exceptional service on his vehicles, so I decided to give them a try with my 2008 Lexus LS-460. My vehicle had several lights on which I wanted to repair. The lights were the ABS, traction control, and one other light which is not coming to mind, at this time. These lights were illuminated on my dash and since I’ve never been that person who could comfortably drive around with warning lights on, I decided it was time to get them addressed. I called the company and spoke to an employee who indicated his name was Cliff. At this time, the Houston area was dealing with freezing temperatures, and he indicated that his shop was dealing with a backlog as a result. Additionally, he indicated that he has another location and indicated that he would check there to see if I could be accommodated there. He called me back and indicated that I could take it to the other location for service which I did the next day. When I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly guy named Chris who indicated that Cliff had given me a heads-up on my situation. Chris also relayed all the information that I previously provided and told me he would be in touch with me as they checked out my vehicle. As promised, I received service calls from Chris stating, “he needed this or that part, totaling approximately, three parts” and requesting authorization. At this juncture, my bill is approximately $2,900. Of course, my vehicle still has some of the same issue that I arrived with and then, he subsequently says, “he thinks my vehicle needs this other part and it costs $3,400 and will probably, fix the issues!” Unfortunately, by now, I’ve completely lost faith in his ability to repair my vehicle and requested him to stop work at $2,900 and put my vehicle back so I can promptly, pick it up! “He called me the next day and actually indicated that my vehicle was put back together and was actually fixed, problem resolved.” Of course, I was pleasantly surprised given our last conversation. I promptly picked it up later that evening. It should be noted that I only drive this vehicle to work, 22 miles a day. Exactly, one month later, all the dashboard lights were all on again. So, I then reached out to Chris to let him know of this issue and he asked me to bring it to him so he could make sure none of the parts that were installed had failed. I informed him that I would bring it as soon as I started my vacation which was April 14th. I dropped it off to Chris on April 15th and eventually, picked it back up on April 17th. Unfortunately, the lights were still on, and they assured me that the parts that they changed were necessary and needed to be changed. It’s been extremely hard for me to make that, make sense!” Especially since I still have the exact issues affecting my vehicle. I drove from Humble to the SW side of Houston to drop off $2,900 for absolutely nothing…from my first visit to the last one, there were two weeks of repairing it and absolutely, no noticeable differences with respect to my dash lights being still on. Personally, I’m not referring anyone to taking their vehicle to Excel Automotive Technology! As a matter of fact, I’d advise them not to take their vehicle there. I felt as though I took my vehicle to a shade tree mechanic who appeared to be guessing as to, the issue was, instead of a professional repair shop which utilized technology, experience and know-how. Obviously, I was sadly disappointed, and I will not be returning to this business, ever.
