(1) Unprofessional Staff: Property Manager Susan and Leasing Agent Jared are indifferent to tenants rights. They do whatever they feel like and your concerns will fall on deaf ears. Jared's favorite saying is "I don't know" when you ask him any question. Susan lives on the property, but acts like she doesn't have to follow any of the rules of the community. She enjoys harassing tenants and telling them to move out. Educate yourself on tenant rights, since the leasing office surely will violate your rights.
(2) Hands off Owner:Wayne Green is president of Alliance Investment Corp, which owns and operates Canyon View Apartments and is located in San Diego in La Jolla Village Drive , San Diego, CA 92122. If you have any issues good luck getting in touch with this individual. He believes he doesn't owe anyone the time of day. He does not care what happens to his property.
(3) Poor quality housing: Windows are single pane, not sealed well, which leads to apartment being really cold in winter and really hot in the summer. This leads to moisture build up throughout the apartment. Air conditioning, barely forces out air. Refrigerator freezes any food that is not at the front. Water pressure is low and weak. Hot water is very limited, you will be taking cold showers often. The garages below the apartment are very audible in the apartment, so expect to hear them often. You have to replace most of the light bulbs and all the smoke detector batteries in the apartment, and they will need to be replaced often. Maintenance hours are limited to 8-11:30AM Monday thru Friday and leasing office doesn't care to accommodate you.
(4) Lease notice issues: Lease notices are sent whenever the leasing office feels like getting around to it. Often they send the leasing office, close to the 30 day mark before your lease expires, leaving you no time to put in your 30 day notice.
(5) Security Deposit Problem: 30 day notice to move out form is required by the leasing office and it forces you to waive your rights to part of your security deposit and pay $125 -$150 for cleaning, no matter what. Several other people have said they did not get back their security deposit. Never lived anywhere else where they require you to sign a specific form to move out and automatically pay for cleaning costs upon move out.
(6) Rent increase inconsistency: The rent increase each year varies greatly. They raised a 2 bedroom apartment's rent $50, another 2 bedroom rent $100 and a 1 bedroom apartment $100 all within about 6 months . They do not have any rhyme or reason for how they determine rent rates each year. Once again, they do whatever they want. They don't give any kind of loyalty discount for staying there year after year.
(7) The apartment complex itself is left dirty. They do not clean the grounds. The only way the area around the apartments are clean is when the tenants take the time to sweep up.
DO NOT live here, life is too short to live in a place where you will be treated less than human.
