I own a business in the local Brighton Area and have always taken my vehicles to A&H when Lloyd owned it and Brett was the manager. The service was fantastic, honest, and was top notch. Lloyd sold it and now they are slowly changing it over to Brighton Garage which is a chain repair shop “Family Owned” out of Detroit and they are FUCKING SHITTY. I will tell you that I own Asaro Tent Rental and have spent thousands over the years on my trucks here and I had one of my employees take his personal car there for a transmission shifter cable issue. Alvin H (not sure if he is a manger or just an office guy) wanted to charge my employee $800 dollars to fix the problem plus a $82 inspection fee. When my employee told me this, I questioned A&H (Alvin H) because I know what a shifter cable costs and to install if this was the issue. I then looked at my employee’s vehicle to see exactly what was wrong and found that all that was needed to be replaced was the Shifter Cable bushing which costs $30 dollars, and 30 minutes of labor. Alvin H was a prick and the first conversation I had with him he told me that the reason it cost so much was because it was "Labor Intensive" His words, and then when I called him out on the bushing the second trip back he told me he wasn't a mechanic and didn't know why it cost so much and then proceeded to tell me that he didn't know that he could just buy the bushing to fix the shifter cable. If you don't know that and you’re in the office writing up the work orders then you should not have a job. I can tell you with complete honesty that he shoved that $82 inspection charge bill up his ass, and we took the car back and fixed it ourselves for $29.99 and 30 minutes of our time. My employee’s dad got the part in the mail and then came to our office on his lunch break and installed the bushing in 15 minutes while we were out working. Alvin H, and Brighton Garage should be ashamed of what they tried to do. They know they lied about even inspecting the car which they didn’t, tried to over charge my employee and if you can sleep at night knowing what you guys did to Lloyd's business then good for you, but your fake inspections, and up charging your customers when they don't know any better will eventually catch up with you like it did in this situation. If you go here, I suggest that you also get quotes from Plarchio's on old U.S. 23 or Randy's right behind A&H if you need work done. They are at least honest and was only going to charge my guy $300 if the whole shifter cable was broken and needed to be repaired. Brighton Garage was going to have to get the whole shifter cable from their vendor who had to get the part shipped from Novi Scotia WTF. They wanted to charge my employee over $300 just for the cable which we can get online for $150 and then another $500 to replace it when all it really needed was a rubber bushing that apparently their $82 dollar inspection didn't catch????????? Really, good luck guys. How can you be a professional shop, complete an inspection on a car and charge $800 when the only thing really wrong was a $30 dollar part that we now have fixed, have a receipt for and my employee is now back driving his vehicle?????? A manager (Dan) ended up calling me because I put my business info out there and, in the end, when had a conversation that ended with him admitting they didn’t even inspect the car from the video cameras installed in the office, but still defended Alvin H. Re-God-Dam-Dic-U-Lious. Please get 2nd and 3rd quotes and be very careful with what was once a truly family owned business by Lloyd and his father and this family owned business called Brighton Garage.
