Recall update
Having failed to find a Hyundai dealer in my home area who could carry out the required recall update on my old Elantra, I was very pleased to find that Winn Hyundai had the necessary tool and could handle the work while I was in the Santa Maria area for a few days. Nothing was too much trouble for Lemmy who not only tracked down the tool but also rearranged my appointment at short notice when I had a schedule change. Very impressive service indeed.

For 15 years (and counting), the very best in vehicle service
Ever since 2007 I have relied on Winn Hyundai to service my Sonata sedans on scores of occasions, and always received prompt, quality service at reasonable prices. All the people who work there -- from front office to sales to service -- are very personable and helpful. It's hard to imagine how I could be more please getting my vehicles serviced elsewhere.

More clarity as to when service is at no charge is required. I drive but 5000 miles per year, so when do I get my oil changed?

Not so sure anymore
I have a story to tell about the service history of my car at Winn Hyundai. I’m looking at my first service bill from Winn going back to 2011. I’ve been coming here ever since then to service my car. Recently though I’ve had service that cause me concern. Three services in fact. Though it was the most recent that caused me really reconsider Winn service is the same reliable service place that I came to over 11 years ago. I began hearing an unusual noise on the right side of the engine compartment. I brought it into service and after they looked into it said they found the noise was coming from a timing belt pulley bearing. The same timing belt tensioner pulley that had been replaced as part of the more extensive timing belt service done at Winn Hyundai service two years, eight months earlier. The service that should be done no sooner than every four years. In so many words they said because it was the part that failed and not their service and they weren’t responsible. In order to fix the problem since it was so close to the next timing belt service (a year and 4 months) I could choose to just replace the one part that failed for $600 plus or do the extensive timing belt service for $800. I opted for the extensive service but asked them to be fair. The part they would not take responsibility for was in fact part of the service which they ordered and for which they should take responsibility for. The service manager agreed and the bill was lowered to $713. When I went to pick up the car after service was done I started the car and an advisor noticed a chirping sound coming from the engine. I want to say this advisor, who has always gone out of his way to be professional and provide the best service possible, pointed this out to me and had the service technician who did the service amend the issue. The service technician said it was a loose timing belt. Since the most recent service I too have continued to hear an unusual noise from the timing belt area of the engine. I also compared the recent extensive timing belt service bill with the earlier one done at Winn service two years, eight months ago. I don’t see half the part replaced as in the earlier service. I called the service and manager and explained the noise who said to bring the car in. He, myself, and the service technician that performed the service looked and listened and concurred there was a chirping noise. They thought it may be a bearing in a timing belt part. The service technician took the car for a short drive for more evaluation. When the service manager returned with my key to the car he said, “It’s under warranty”, as a way of consoling me. I don’t feel consoled.
