washington oakes retirement community
Staff are very friendly and curteous. The type of food served seems to be a regular topic of conversation. Given the age of the residents, they would prefer more "comfort" type food - the food they used to cook.

The staff are attentive, sincerely concerned with residents' well-being and do their very best consistently to make living at Washington Oakes a positive and enjoyable experience for residents. I am comfortable that my Mother is respected, cared for and about and enjoys where she lives day in and day out.

Roland said he very satisfied with everything. He likes the community itself, the people and the staff also. He takes part in the Ping Pong club and enjoys the history discussion group that meets twice a week, the food is good and they also have ala carte if you don't like anything from the menu.

Sheridan said he's comfortable, warm and likes that he can walk around. He is also able to teach American History twice a week and the residents are comfortable with it. What is most attractive to him is that the food is consistently good and once in a while, he gets to meet a woman. He doesn't participate in a lot of activities, although, there are plenty, because his teaching takes a lot of preparation and the residents are supportive of it. He gets to walk with another one of the guys from there to a park by the marina which is 8 or 10 blocks and meet people along the way. He always recommends Washington Oakes.

Betty said she appreciates the independence this facility affords her and the food is good. She also said it is convenient. She likes the bus rides the facility sets up. The thing she most likes is her privacy and to do what she likes in her room.

Lorraine said she really enjoys her nice apartment, the food and the staff is also really great. She really enjoys the meals, they are really good. She likes to play pinnacle and read, they have a great little library.

Aleph said she's very satisfied with the place, she has lots of friends and the food is good. She likes that there are all kinds of activities, birthday parties, and they play games. If she doesn't want to participate, goes back to her room and quilts or watches TV and also has outside activities that she does as well. She enjoys the exercising and plays Rummikub and bingo two or three times a week.

Nancy said this community is a lovely place to live and she's made friends. Overall, this is the best place to be. This community is her children's first choice. She enjoys the activities and her friends. Also, she likes the bean bag baseball, crosswords and the rides. She's getting used to the meal time regimentation.
