Thank you so much Rose, and we'll keep that Subie on the road for you for many years to come! And your comment gives us an excellent opportunity to tell other folks about our Older Vehicle Policy. The short story is that we don't take on NEW clients with vehicles older than 15 years. Once you're a Dwyer client, though, your vehicle won't "age out" of our service; we'll keep caring for it as long as it makes sense to you. But there is some flexibility in that policy.
Depending on factors like manufacturer or maintenance history an older vehicle can sometimes be "worth it" to keep on the road. If a client really wants us to take on their older vehicle we’ll do a ‘Challenge Inspection’ to see if the vehicle is worth supporting, both to you and us. This is the same Comprehensive Inspection we recommend for all new clients' vehicles but normally it's to provide mechanical information to our client. For our Challenge Inspection we’re making decisions ourselves about whether we can service the vehicle in good conscience. If it passes, if it makes sense to BOTH the client and us to work on the vehicle, then we'll be working together for many years to come.
The longer story is, well, a longer story. You can read all the details of our older vehicle policy on TomDwyer.com under the "Resources" tab, under "Get To Know Our Shop". (https://tomdwyer.com/2025/newsletters/our-older-vehicle-policy/)
Thank you again Rose, we really appreciate your kind words!
