Worst service experience I’ve ever had
About 4-5 months ago we took our 2020 Hyundai Tucson to the TipTon Hyundai Service department for a simple battery replacement. When their “experts” started checking our vehicle they recommended to change the alternator to which my dad agreed to, and the Service Consultant Paloma recommended an aftermarket alternator because it was cheaper (keep in mind we know nothing about car parts or repairs and we were trusting them because they’re “certified Hyundai techs”). A couple of days go by and they called my dad to pick up the vehicle, my dad paid about $400 for the alternator and battery repair. Once my dad was pulling out of the dealership (he was still in their property) the vehicle turned off all of a sudden and didn’t want to start. The vehicle was taken back by the dealership and they started working on it again. A couple of months went by without any response by the service department, my dad (who was in contact with Paloma through text) kept sending texts and calls but he was being ghosted, it wasn’t until we went in person to the dealership when we finally got some answers on what was going on. Apparently the so called “experts” had installed an aftermarket alternator which didn’t have a regulator, we didn’t know what that meant at first but after researching we found out that the alternator controls the voltage that is thrown into the car. When Paloma was telling us their mistake she was laughing and didn’t offer a single apology, we asked to talk to their manager John which was no help either. Now the vehicle has been at the dealership for another month and they want to charge us $900.00 for a replacement on the vehicle’s computer which was fried by the alternator they installed. A simple $100+ repair turned into a messy $900.00 dispute.
